Horrific way to go. Trapped as the tide slows draws in and drowns you in front of your child.

A bloody horrific tragedy that’ll stay with that poor kid for the rest of her life.
However, it should be noted that she was absolutely shitfaced and her partner hadn’t wanted her to take the dog with her because she was that drunk. Also, to fall like she did, she must’ve been walking on the wall separating the promenade from the rocks.

Some tides can be so quick that you can’t outrun them (check youtube).

>Saffron’s daughter described how her mum was screaming and asking for people to help get her out. She said that the wait for the ambulance ‘felt like an eternity’.
Horrific. How traumatising for her poor daughter and the people who tried to rescue her.
Though looking at the photo I can’t imagine how one could get stuck in such a way. Truly a freak accident.

Regardless of the circumstances of how she got stuck, it’s utterly ridiculous how it took emergency services half an hour to arrive!

There was some blood in her alcohol, also her face is very swollen on the photo. Maybe she had some kind of sickness. My feelings go to her daughter, hopefully she’s able to surpass this tragic event and get some decent role models in her life.

It’s an awful accident whether she was pissed or not , especially traumatic for her daughter to witness and for those who tried to help .

Wow that’s awful, can’t think of many worse ways to go, absolutely horrific for the daughter, rip.
Feels a bit weird and insensitive talking about how much she drank that day as this seemed like a deathtrap waiting to happen.
Anyway awful for the daughter, I hope she gets some support to get over this

If you read a bit more about this, basically a lot of the emergency services that turned up refused to go down to her because they „didn’t have the correct PPE“. When the fire fighters turned up they immediately went down and pulled her out, no rescue equipment was needed. She’d already drowned by that point.
In life there are people who die because they deserved it, who did not deserve it and the rest die from own stupidity.
Numerous ppl have died as a result from consequences of intoxication.
Whether you are seen as a hero or a villain, can be a difference of opinion/perspective and is iften influenced be personal bias, history, media.
Everyone can agree that stupidity is by far the worst way to leave this world for dying due to a lack of judgment is preventable, which makes it feel more tragic or frustrating to those left behind than a death that felt unavoidable.
May that daughter be given the strength to overcome her grief and not follow in the footsteps of her mothers own recklessness.

Couldn’t they cut a garden hose to pass her to use as a snorkel?? I feel like there was a lack of initiative all around. Maybe it was so easy to remove her once she’d drowned because they didn’t have to be as careful with the rocks, or the rocks were lighter due to being in the water? Sheesh. What a horrible story.

What PPE was needed, welly boots? The firebrigade managed to pull her out straight away with no equipment, yet bystanders had attempted and failed. I can’t understand the logistics of it all that prevented anyone other than the fire service being able to pull this poor woman out. Why was it not made clear to the emergency call handler that the tide was rapidly starting to come in? IDK, It just sounds like an all round mass incompetence, people standing around with hands in their pockets.
