„Es besteht ernsthaftes Potenzial für eine Neuausrichtung der australischen Politik auf der rechten Seite, so wie wir es in Europa gesehen haben“, sagte Benjamin Moffitt, Dozent für politische und internationale Beziehungen an der Monash University, dessen Forschung sich auf den weltweiten Aufstieg des Populismus konzentriert.
[One Nation founder] Frau Hanson, die gesagt hat, dass Australien Gefahr läuft, von Asiaten und Muslimen „überschwemmt“ zu werden, bleibt strikt gegen Einwanderung. Sie kritisierte auch die öffentliche Unterstützung oder Anerkennung indigener Australier und griff das an, was sie politische Korrektheit nennt.
Viele ihrer Positionen stimmen eng mit den Botschaften von Präsident Trump überein. Letztes Jahr sprach sie auf der Conservative Political Action Conference in Mar-a-Lago, wo sie die Politik von Herrn Trump lobte und ihre Ziele darlegte, diese in Australien widerzuspiegeln.

As an Aussie I’m ashamed of this result.
This is the Labor government’s fault for not taking down the extremely dominant and right wing Murdoch press.
Albo could have crushed Murdoch but did nothing.

Not too worried. Remember that the reason this is happening is because the LNP attempted to go full MAGA in the last two Federal elections and, due to the Australian voting system (mandatory voting and RCV), they were destroyed at the ballot box. Most of their seats went to centre-right independent (Teal) candidates. I can see ON taking rural seats from the LNP but they aren’t going to get support in the cities when the urban population can vote for a Teal independent.
One seat, in 30 years. And they took it off liberals (centre right). Its more of a concern for the right wing parties, since Labour is moving further right forcing conservative parties to fight for scraps on the fringes.
Putting into a wider context:
The centre-right coalition (LNP) is a complete failure at being an effective opposition to the current government. All they seem to come up with are hare-brained Trumpian policies that nobody is buying. They are no longer centre-right, its now more like a right wing coalition, that has hasn’t changed with the times.
One Neuron are not going to be a threat to the current centre-left government, the Labor party have 94 out of the 150 total seats in the Aussie equivalent of Congress that requires 76 seats or more to form a government.
One Neuron (like most right wing parties) are financed by the richest people in Australia and promoted by News Corp.
