The message written on the hand of Ukrainian Olympic athlete Olena Smaha „Remembrance is not a violation“ – has sparked a flash mob that has since been joined by soldiers of Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces.

Smaha displayed her support for fellow Ukrainian athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych, who competed wearing a helmet featuring portraits of Ukrainians killed by russia’s aggression.

On February 9, the International Olympic Committee banned the memorial element from Heraskevych’s helmet. In response, Smaha appeared with the message written on her hand – a gesture that quickly became a symbol of remembrance and solidarity.
