Why does EVERY dem speech talk about “normal Americans dreaming 🥹✨” to this day, like bro we are in CRISIS, people are ANGRY

  2. No_Cucumbers_Please on

The aggressive start and stops of the clapping just feels so.. inorganic. Yes, I am creative directing this rebuttal.

  3. OpenTheBobs on

I remember Marco Rubio drinking water during his nightmare Republican response. This is well done.

  4. Rolling_Chicane on

Unfortunately Spanberger might not have the juice. This should have been Newsom.

  5. DNC still hasn’t learned. The overly rehearsed „politician“ vibes aren’t working. The inauthenticity reeks, even if she really means it. Get someone believable and truly populist to save our party, please. Sincerely, a Virginian who voted for Spanberger

  6. She should have gone for his throat, emphasizing his adjudicated criminality and the stories emerging from the files. That his character is horrific by any metric and that he’s quite likely a malignant narcissist. Then segue to how wrongheaded his economic ideas are, how much damage he has already done and will do. Say we’ve entrusted our country to a criminal mad man.

    But no. Milquetoast.

  7. SciencePreserveUs on

Ok, even if he’s evil now, I have a soft spot for Michael Dell. I was getting into IT when his company started getting big.

Anybody else remember Gateway and those ridiculous cow boxes?

  8. phil-up-my-cup on

Why didn’t she mention he likely raped children and is protecting pedos

  9. SushiBurritoDood on

This felt so scripted. She’s not wrong but I was hoping the response would go at this throat. Bring up the files, get him where it hurts

  10. phil-up-my-cup on

Weak response. Also doesn’t matter, most Americans aren’t watching this stuff anyway sadly enough.

  11. Deep_Rush_1167 on

Nothing like having a CIA agent being the spokesperson for the Democratic Party while the Epstein files exposes how intelligence apparatus belittle this country. I wish it was Bernie going up to talk about two tiers of justice in this country and let’s see he has toured around the country not just Virgina. Goodnight

  12. LocoDiablo42 on

I wish there was a discussion thread for every day living in trump’s america so I could just kinda dip in and vent my fucking ass off and feel some sense of relief

„she’s boring“ „why are they clapping, that’s cringe“

IF those are the main bot complaints you know she did a great job.

  14. tylerthomas28 on

I give her a C. Forgettable response with cringe clapping interrupting her flow. Felt like an ai emotionless voice droning on. Newsome, AOC and Bernie would’ve been better.

  15. BigShooterMcGavin on

Democrats not standing for Iryna Zarutska’s mother was one of the sickest things I’ve ever witnessed. Irredeemable people.

  16. SciencePreserveUs on

„Tarrifs paid for by foreign countries“? Ok, this just went off the rails (for my time delayed self). Does anyone not realize by now that they are a tax paid by Americans?

Edit: Does he REALLY believe that? How demented is this man?

  17. Frankly, I hate how calm she is. It normalizes Trumpism. That was a boring, cookie-cutter response no matter how logical it was. I want someone to fight fire with fire and attack the Republican cult with anger and conviction, not smug holier than thou attitude.

  18. I never heard of Abigail Spanberger, but it’s been so long that I’ve heard a politician speak well and do it while sounding level headed and respectful.

The bar is that low these days that *normal* is impressive.

  19. Didn’t capture the anger of the democratic base. At least she won her race by 15 points tho!

  20. true_new_troll on

One of the weirder moments that I haven’t seen mentioned yet — when talking about recovering the bodies of deceased hostages, Trump said:

    >But I said those last 20 are going to be tough. We got them back. But we only got back 14 or 15 of the dead, of the 28. And believe it or not, Hamas worked along with Israel and they dug and they dug and they dug. It’s a tough — it’s a tough thing to do, going through bodies all over, passing up 100 bodies sometimes for each one that they found.

He’s describing digging through hundreds of bodies in Gaza in order to find a few bodies of hostages.

    Another wild comment:

    > And with our new military campaign, we have stopped record amounts of drugs coming into our country and virtually stopped it completely coming in by water or sea. You probably noticed that. We very seriously damaged their fishing industry also. Nobody wants to go fishing anymore.

The Dems will never learn from a victory like Mamdani’s on the same night as milquetoast Spanberger. The solution isn’t moderates w boring rehearsed diatribes we’ve heard time and time again.

Give us passion. Give us anger. Give us something that speaks to the collective outrage over the actual state of the union.

  22. DarthBroker on

Michael Steele just said what was said in the other thread…He wasn’t crazy about the response speech. You have to respond to a speech like that directly. I agree. It was a good speech, but it wasn’t strong enough. Didn’t draw a strong enough parallel.

  23. Turbulent_Juice_Man on

A totally forgettable speech. Fine, nothing wrong with it, but its a standard, run of the mill speech nobody will respond too.

The moment called for much more of a firebrand approach, and like usual, Democrats are the party of wet noodles.

This SOTU was almost the perfect epitome of what’s wrong with this country.

Donald Trump is a sick, twisted, repulsive, narcissistic, disgusting, excuse of a human being. He is so unbelievably full of shit – it’s nauseating.

Not only is he allowed to get on stage, and verifiably lie more than any other president in the history of the SOTU…. But he uses his political opposition as a ploy the entire time. Denigrating & demeaning the checks & balances our Democratic Republic was built upon.

The direct, heinous, outright pitiful attacks on Democratic lawmakers multiple times is an unprecedented act of horse shit. Specifically pointing towards corruption; while Trump continues to peddle & gain wealth his meme-trash like shoes, bibles, watches, NFTs, and Shitcoins. *Let alone the Qatari private jets & board of peace bribes*.

And our Democratic lawmakers are not much better. Every single person in that room should be embarrassed & ashamed of themselves. You had 1 person kicked out for holding up a, “Black people aren’t apes.” sign. As if retweeting an AI video he didn’t watch is the worst thing the senile racist pedophile has done.

Every single one of those democrats should’ve stood up & held a sign. Why don’t we hold signs saying, “Trump Rapes Kids. Release The Files.” And then all walk out.

Ilhan Omar, petulantly yelling back, “No, you should be ashamed!” After getting directly called out. This kind of inaction is just as bad as all the idiots standing up every 15 seconds. You’re all fucking spineless. Half of the Democrats stood up & clapped in support for Israel. What a fucking joke.

In reality – **we should all be ashamed**. Our country is the laughing stock of the world. Every single one of us voted for this one way or another. Whether for the Pedo in Chief himself, or for the opposition party who refuses to grow a pair of balls, half of whom support the Apartheid regime of Netanyahu & Israel – who very clearly control a large part of this country.

We’re so fucking cooked it’s hard to even comprehend. My poor fucking kids.

  25. „Should have been Shapiro.“, „Should have been Newsome“

The Democrat party will lose to Vance and whoever else if you want either of those people to be the face going forward.

They need to rebrand…Abigail was a good start.

  26. UnloadedBakedPotato on

“When they go low, we go high” has been the unofficial slogan of the Democratic Party for the last 10 years.

Spanberger is a perfectly fine speaker, and her speech is fine in a vacuum. What democrats have consistently failed to understand is that this type of messaging falls flat. The Democrats do not have a foil for Trump. They need to directly address and attack his claims and go on the offensive. Mention the Epstein files and press on why this administration has mishandled it so poorly. Apply pressure on the “I’ve ended eight wars” nonsense and actively refute those points. Stop telling people that their cost of living has gone up and you’re working on it.

At this point, ad homenims and attacks on the credibility of Trump and this administration is going to be the only thing that really gets through peoples heads. Use visual props like graphs or pictures if you have to in order to get your point across. Failure to do so will result in things staying the same. The energy and the rage of the democratic base was not fully captured in the response, which is exactly how the democrats have functioned for years. They need to rethink and reshape their entire messaging.

  27. DescriptionOk9622 on

How lucky are we to have a president who cares so deeply for us Americans. Our values, our history, our heroes… the president really did a great job recognizing everything that is right with American now and shined a light on all that is left to be fixed. Corruption and fraud need to be exposed. Well done. Proud to be an American now more than ever.

  28. AntoniaFauci on

Heaven help us. The friggin Democrat leaders STILL won’t spend a single day getting some fucking communications coaching.

Thanks, Spanberger, for a long and accurate and low energy olde tyme college debate speech.

Guess what though? The game has changed.

  29. Exporation1 on

Summer Lee’s speech was so much better than Spanberger’s and Trump’s. Listen to it if you are sick of milk toast democrats and think before you spout Spanberger as the next big thing. She isn’t she’s just more of the same.

  30. Furd__Turgeson on

“That dem really sucked big time and Trump is the real deal, red white and blue through and through!!” – some account with a locked profile

  31. The Democrats putting Spanberger up there for the response has proven they’ve learned nothing. Not that I’m surprised.

  32. NorthernStub5309 on

Spanberger was unimpressive. Any lawmaker dismissing tariffs based on short-term pain has had their head in the sand. 30 years of bad trade policy decimated countless businesses and industry, and undoing even some of that damage won’t come without additional damage. It’s a long-term play, and has already caused U.S. (and foreign) corporations to rethink jumping into low-cost-countries like China to do business. We needed this kind of leadership in 1996.
