Ukraine has begun planning presidential elections alongside a referendum on any peace deal with Russia, after the Trump administration pressed Kyiv to hold both votes by May 15 or risk losing proposed US security guarantees.

The plan aligns with a US push, outlined by Volodymyr Zelenskyy to reporters on Friday, ‘to do everything by June . . . so that the war ends’, citing the White House’s desire to shift its focus to the US midterm elections in November.

I honestly don’t trust the current US Administration tbh in fulfilling their part of the deal. Especially when looking at what has been done for the past year and current situation. Not to mention the number of pro-russian assets that keep trying to undermine Ukraine’s war efforts towards victory under their terms.

Or is he „hoping“ that Russia is going to make it impossible to have a election? And what happens to Donbas and the 20% ish that Russia have taken? Are they going vote aswell? 🤔

As a European concerned about the state of Democracy and will of the people in the United States, Russia and China, I hereby demand these three countries immediately hold fair and open elections and referendums on their leaders.
