    >Shark fins are prized in Chinese cuisine, particularly for shark fin soup, which is associated with status and celebration, according to the nonprofit Shark Stewards. It’s a dish that can sell for $100 a bowl and continues to drive a lucrative black market.

Although the article mentions the cruelty to the sharks, there’s no mention of the injuries that the villagers suffer, such as partial or full loss of limbs. There’ve been stories about this on villages in Asia that engage in shark hunting, all for the love of soup. It’s a shame that downtrodden areas of the world do this so that richer groups can enjoy their luxuries.

People seriously gotta start harvesting the rest of the meat too. This wouldn’t be so weird if people weren’t so wasteful about it.

  3. ….and every review I’ve ever read boils down to ***it tastes „meh“***.

So it’s 100% about people without taste trying to look chik

  4. What an absolute tragedy. Sharks are largely benign when it comes to people and are massively beneficial to the oceanic ecosystem at large. So much waste.
