Yeah, it seems Zelensky found himself a deck of cards, and they’re not Uno.

    2. The Trump admin has not only stopped helping Ukraine, but in some ways they are actively helping Russia.

The only thing I would disagree with in this article is when they say Zelenskyy was humiliated at the White House. I would say it’s clear the US humiliated themselves and Ukraine indeed had the cards all along while rump and his idiots are playing solitaire with a missing jack.

This article seems to skip over the fact that the US 3-day ceasefire for Putin’s parade came with a 1000 for 1000 prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia. Russia broke the ceasefire as soon as the parade was over reneged on doing the prisoner exchange, and the exchange is the only reason Ukraine agreed in the first place. So Russia broke the US agreement and it’s not going to change anything, the administration will still be on Russia’s side and won’t even reprimand them over breaking the deal. This is the same reason this Iran war will go on forever, because no agreement with Trump is an actual agreement, it’s just useless words. Giving up anything in exchange for a deal with Trump is just giving up something for absolutely nothing.

    6. There is more to it.

Europe and Ukraine have more to gain from inflicting damage on Russia over even a favorable peace. You cannot negotiate the destruction of 1/3rd of oil refineries and the dismantling of 50% of their air force. You cannot negotiate the imposition of a long recession.

As Russia begins to openly move towards possibly wanting a surrender or peace, Ukraine backed by Europe will move further away. Doing so at the very least extends the period during which they can impose destruction on Russia, but at best it can trigger some kind of collapse of facilitate regional independence.

Right now, at least until the cold weather returns or Russia manages to escalate credible threats, it is unlikely that Ukraine has more to gain from peace than the current ‚damage output‘.
