It’s interesting to see this proposal is being talked about in relation to the [EU’s
European Transport Network’s Rail Corridors](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-European_Transport_Network#:~:text=the%20Mediterranean%20Corridor%20(Spain%E2%80%93France,%E2%80%93Germany%E2%80%93Austria%E2%80%93Italy)%3B). They are about connecting all of Europe’s rail networks in separate countries, so that journeys can happen seamlessly and with one ticket. In this case it would integrate [Morocco’s 323km high-speed Al Boraq line](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Boraq) that links Casablanca and Tangier, with the EU’s Mediterranean Rail Corridor that goes as far east as Hungary.

Though, perhaps the bigger significance of this would be for freight. I’m guessing rail transport would be much cheaper than existing methods of moving goods between Europe and Africa.
