Discussion Thread: 2025 US Government Shutdown, Day 4

I hope one day we have a political party that fights for good things as fiercely as republicans fight for bad things.
This should be called the Trump shutdown. He seems to have no problem blaming Democrats so let’s call it what it really is
My pet peeve: Folks who call into CSPAN and blame this on partisan politics. I’m against shutdowns, but given the rules congress follows, for them to refuse to vote for appropriations or CRs, based on the budgets having too much $ for X, or not enough money for Y, is their job.
Why does Obamacare need subsidies? Is it actually inadequate ???
I’m sure this government shutdown will have some effect on people within a few weeks time, personally they can shut it down for the rest of the year and my life wouldn’t change much. Extending the affordable Care act is worth at least a couple months of shut down. Let Trump own it. This is „the art of the deal“ (fun fact I actually use my own money as a preteen to purchase that book). I’ve used the affordable Care act probably 3 years out of the last 10 and it certainly saved me money those years,in fact I would caution to say I may not have been able to afford the premiums otherwise. Fortunately I didn’t have to use many of the services but you never know. Granted, I think healthcare and dental care should be a given as an American citizen.
