SS: The author explores the idea of a European Army as a solution to NATO’s biggest weakness, namely the dependency on the United States. A unified European force would enhance strategic autonomy in every military domain. It would streamline defence spending and strengthen deterrence, which would become both stronger and cheaper. It would reduce duplications and speed up integration efforts toward a more federal Europe. An army of four million Europeans could protect Europe from Greenland to Luhansk and project global power.
