**Data:** the local „Standard“ Netflix plan price from Netflix’s own per-country sites, converted to USD at current exchange rates — 51 countries, refreshed weekly. Coloured against the global average (geomean = $12.40/month): teal = cheaper, red = pricier.
**Tool:** a custom Node.js pipeline — d3-geo (Natural Earth projection) for the choropleth, rendered SVG → PNG.

I track a few other standardized products the same way: iPhone, Spotify, IKEA BILLY bookcase, Red Bull. Which would you most want to see mapped next? And any feedback on the chart itself is very welcome.
Awesome, now add a list of top VPNs that can be used to sign up!
What’s up with the placement of the Canada and US labels? There’s plenty of room for either so why are they clustered together and switched vertically?
Also the India label line doesn’t even hit India, same with Kenya.
Nigeria, Israel and Morocco no labels.
E: actually a lot with no labels. Maybe it’s just the top ones labeled? Nope, Denmark and Nigeria both at number 2 of their categories are missing. It’s completely arbitrary.

Is the Switzerland price up there because of a tax? Something like the TV licence fee in the UK being added to it.
USA – Canada flags positions on the map are just vile
NFLX should expand to other countries in Eastern Europe, Baltics states, Central Asia and South America.
Ah yes, but of what the price on ones soul?
Love the labeling system that puts the label for Canada in the us and the one for the us in Canada.
Never knew we have one of the lowest plans. Feeling blessed.
It’s not accurate to say it’s the same subscription in every country, offerings vary by country.
This is why I pirate now.
These prices are insane. I stopped pirating when Netflix was reasonable and offer cheap ad free viewing with a ton of content.
Now you got very limited content with ads in your face every 5 minutes. The worst of both worlds.
Any reason for not including a lot of countries where Netflix is available? It’s public information. Like Estonia.
Enjoying India prices in Singapore
„same subscription“ ≠ same content .
Now show it adjusted by average income or gpd per capita.
The whole reason that they have different prices in different countries is so that they can even offer services in the poorer countries.
If they were forced to charge the same prices everywhere, they would probably only serve US, CA, Europe, Japan, Australia, and a few other countries.
For those who are like „Oh yeah, let’s sign up while on a VPN in Egypt.“ Well, I am in Egypt, and I’m going to tell you now that they’re library is much smaller, and there is a lot of content missing because it doesn’t get past the censorship board. Like, I tried to watch Divergent the other day (I was curious, don’t @ me), but even though it’s listed as being on Netflix, I couldn’t find it.
So yeah, it’s cheaper, but it’s also a smaller library.
Just as an FYI, the content libraries aren’t the same for every country so if you decide to go through the effort of getting a VPN and sorting out a local payment method, you might want to double check that it has what you’d like to watch.
Is there any particular reason why the average is used as opposed to geometric mean or the median?
So vpn to Ecuador when signing up?
That’s off.
It’s 169B/$5.15 in Thailand.
Garbage research
Swiss but not Austria and Germany?
Not even the median under DACH summary?
Germany isnt on the list because we cant get the connection working properly…
Eventually a cable sucscription will be cheaper
Looking for an Egyptian family member …
That’s wrong. In Spain the highest price is 21.99€ or US $25.44.

I live in Switzerland, but eastern European/EU sign up works just fine; paid through a wise cc. Turkey etc not so much.
Why is everything so fucking expensive in Spain despite having atrocious salaries?
Fucking hell. Why I’m paying the same for everything as people with x3 or x5 my salary?
Was this made by ai? Or, did some genius decide to put The U.S. above Canada?
They recently increased in Denmark. I should really get my act together and cancel, the convenience isn’t worth it anymore and they don’t make that much that stands out positively, and they just cancel the stuff that does.
Why does this not include more countries? How hard is it to get prices from different countries? Just look it up and add it to the data.
I won’t pay for 1080p, if I can pay less for 720p and watch TV with my glasses off.
Switzerland is just getting scammed at this point
The standard ad-free 1080p plan in the netherlands is 15,99 euro not 18,49 euro,
luckily the 720p ad-free version for 9,99 euro is still availible.
So now you know the difference between nominal GDP and PPP calculations
It is not the same subscription though. The database of movies and tv shows available to you are radically different, based on your location. This is true for Netflix and Prime. Source: We have both subscriptions in 3 locations, so we do not have to toy with vpns.
Why are the bar lengths on the RHS in reverse?
How does this look when you take the GDP per capita of the country into account?
Nvm, did it. It’s Netflix is far more expensive in the global south.
This is why I keep my Indonesian subscriptions (plural) while living in the Netherlands
The data is flawed.
Some countries include sales tax/VAT and others do not.
Is this adjusted to purchase power parity, or just plain conversion to USD?
It’s not the same subscription if the content is different
I’ve checked for Switzerland and the price for standard is 14.90 CHF, which is around 18 USD. The price on your stats is closer to premium sub
Kinda useless map, given how it’s a different service with different content in different countries.
Now compare number of titles in each catalogue, adjusted for income
Example, US Netflix has over 5,000 titles while Canada has less than 3,500
