In Norway this is completely normal in the forest. We just stand there and make whiney noises in a dress in the middle of a swamp.

I have Norwegian grandparents , so it was always a lovely part of my life, and i still do some of the traditions around Christmas time, and the mid may holidays/observations . BUT! when the show vikings came out, so did this type of person, and it unfortunately has not let up( too each their own, but damn).
What scandic tradition is this supposed to depict? Sounds more like Sámi and karelian joiku.

When I’m browsing Facebook every now and then there will pop up random groups like „Norwegian heritage“ (made-up name) and they’re always full of weird Americans writing like the people depicted in this post, without fault. It strikes me as people who obsess over Japan and all Japanese things as mundane as they might be, but for Norway.

Let them cosplay. My hometown still has a Syttende Mai parade. They dress up. Eat lefse and meatballs. They’re just proud of their heritage. I think my grandparents wished they could go back and visit.
