sections with higher rainfall prefer rice. more at 9
It would be more accurate to say “wheat” instead of “bread”

Rice goes too far north in China.
Wheat is absolutely dominant in the provinces of Henan and Shandong.
Now I am curious about a worldwide map. Latin America and Africa would have some interesting staple categories
A Korea United against the tyrrany of bread!
Why this wrong map is uploaded in here again and again.
Am literally at the border, that too 3rd tier subdivision level
Girl just no. Whenever this map is reposted everyone points out how inland and northern China is dead wrong.
BTW Indians(except Rajesthani) in that Wheat region of India also eat rice atleat once a day.
Wait so there are more Asians that eat bread than rice? Til
I must have a pretty limited view living in the US as I don’t think I’ve ever seen bread with Chinese food.
Northern China too. Dongbei is know for wheat consumption over rice
Middle East eats a shit ton of rice. Bread at breakfast rice at dinner.
North china consumes a lot of rice as well
السعودية بلد خبز؟؟! سلملي
What about rice bread?
This is wrong. Completely wrong.
i like how india is 50 50
west asia is definitely both in that regard we mainly eat rice in the day and bread in the night
This is why the red area has always had the highest population from anywhere else in the world. They didn’t just start having babies out of nowhere, they have always had a lot of children because of good survival from Rice.
Bread supremacy > Rice supremacy
The rice one dominate more in India, rice region goes more towards west in India.
Doesn’t Vietnam eat banh mi? 🥪
I watched a video explaining that this was the reason for cultural differences we see even today; primarily that old rice-growers are more community focused, and old wheat growers are more individualistic.
This is because rice is harder to grow, and it took a community to make sure rice was grown properly, whereas wheat can be cared for my a single farmer/family.
Bad map.
Not true.
And what happened to overlapping regions?
What about Iran?
Is there a version of this map for Africa?
well it might be 51-49 stat cause in pakistan both rice and bread(roti/naan) is eaten equally.
most households have bread in the morning, and alternatively eat rice or ‚bread‘ in the later 2 meals.
i think most people in india would also agree to this
Brazil:

rice asia is lowk better
Shandong and most part of Henan are traditionally wheat for sure
Their grain output is also more wheat than rice today. Definitely smaller rice share than the northeast China
If it’s literally rice consumption today, after rice maker was invented lots part of northern China is more rice today
Wrong map. Rice extends more into western india
Fried Bread Toast vs Something
good point, that would make the map even more accurate
