    1. If you remove the 20 in 2039 somehow that title has a strong feel of déjà vu >_<„

    2. Who’s gonna pay for all of that? Because according to our chancellor Merz we are all just lazy pieces of shit who just want handouts and dont want to work.

Also who will be in this „strongest“ army? I dont see young people joining when all year the gouvernment is gaslighting everyone below the age of 50y.

    3. Poland and Ukraine will probably grow even faster if we look at current trends in military growth.

    4. I, as a German, would prefer the European Army to be the strongest military, not any national one.

      we need each other

    5. Why did they specifically set the target date for having their army ready for 2039—exactly 100 years after their invasion of Poland? Maybe they should clarify that on September 1, 2039, they will be the largest army… ?

Classic bullshit from our european governments. „We COMMIT to being SUPER GOOD at this one thing…..*by [insert random future date]“*

      *proceeds to never do it*

Meanwhile AfD is topping all the polls. This might not end that well.

    8. How about getting our economy back on track without getting rid of our social system first, thanks.

More soldiers. But nothing to hurt russia in their backyard. So, whats the point?

Any long range balistic missiles? Long range cruise missiles? Long range drones? In BIG numbers? Did i miss here something?

Maybe it’s a little presumptuous but wouldn’t achieving this goal imply Germany as a nuclear state?

I hope they don’t get all ‚frisky again:, it was damn inconvenient and expensive to resolve the last two times.

At least now we’re all Europeans rather than Germans, Polish, French etc. I feel Nato and EU will prevent the funny year from happening.

    13. The outline sounds good, but this was very superficial reporting.

However, Europe is in a little bit of a peculiar place. Right now everybody seems to call for Germany to step up. But it is almost guaranteed that once that happens, people will ask themselves if they awakened something that they feel uneasy about.

Germany is not a country without self interest. And for example the far right is strong in Germany as well. I hope nationalism can be contained, and one way – maybe the only one – is a far, far deeper European integration in security and military affairs. Up to a point where we begin to wonder if we are still seeing separate countries or not.

I am writing this as a German.
