Who’s gonna pay for all of that? Because according to our chancellor Merz we are all just lazy pieces of shit who just want handouts and dont want to work.
Also who will be in this „strongest“ army? I dont see young people joining when all year the gouvernment is gaslighting everyone below the age of 50y.

Why did they specifically set the target date for having their army ready for 2039—exactly 100 years after their invasion of Poland? Maybe they should clarify that on September 1, 2039, they will be the largest army… ?

Maybe it’s a little presumptuous but wouldn’t achieving this goal imply Germany as a nuclear state?

At least now we’re all Europeans rather than Germans, Polish, French etc. I feel Nato and EU will prevent the funny year from happening.

The outline sounds good, but this was very superficial reporting.
However, Europe is in a little bit of a peculiar place. Right now everybody seems to call for Germany to step up. But it is almost guaranteed that once that happens, people will ask themselves if they awakened something that they feel uneasy about.
Germany is not a country without self interest. And for example the far right is strong in Germany as well. I hope nationalism can be contained, and one way – maybe the only one – is a far, far deeper European integration in security and military affairs. Up to a point where we begin to wonder if we are still seeing separate countries or not.
I am writing this as a German.
