      My ancestry is mainly German & English, so they were probably barbarians in Germania (given that the Angles and Saxons hadn’t moved to Britain yet). Rome was likely the only empire they’d ever heard of

    4. Nah, my area (Scandinavia) was vaguely and indirectly known to the Romans, I suppose. (My ancestors traded with people who traded with the Romans.)

    6. Define ancestor. Genetically every European alive is a decendant of every European who lived in the 10th century.

    7. In that map, the Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty, perhaps Maya or Zapotec but it would’ve been forgotten generations ago.

    8. I always thought Sicily and Sardinia were part of the Roman Empire, apparently not

      I’m Mexican and basically half Spanish with drips of British so closest would be Roman I guess

      Half of the country roman empire, other side of the rivers was just fine. This devision can still be felt
