In Egypt, it’s called ‚borto’an‘ and not Portugal!
In many Italian dialects it’s also called portogallo
In Romania we call it “portocală” which is a derivative of the word “portocaliu” that translates to “orange” but it has no connection to Portugal.

Heard the city of Porto used to be called Burtuqal during the Arab-North African period of Iberia.
In dutch it’s called sinaasappel (china’s apple)
Never thought about it too much myself; arabic countries call it „Burtuqal“, while we call Portugal „Burtugal“ with the g sounding like a spanish „g“ or a french „r“.

These kind of maps always ignore the fact that standard Arabic is different from the actual dialects spoken which can be totally different. For instance Oranges in Morocco are called ‚ Litchin‘ or ‚Lemon‘

Wow, I speak Romanian, and somehow, I never noticed that the Romanian word for orange (portocală) derives from the Romanian word for Portugal (Portugalia).
In Greece that’s also the name of the colour „Πορτοκαλί“, which is pronounced different than the fruit „Πορτοκάλι“. I wonder what came first, the fruit, the colour or the country
