  2. This is wrong though, nominal 2026 GDP for the other selected countries would be closer to $1.35T; Romania+Ukraine alone are about 650b

    I feel the graph is unfair on the Baltic States. Estonia economy has grown massively at an even higher rate than Poland, it’s a tiny country. Ukraine and Belarus thanks to Russia have not grown and declined if anything since 1990. Ukraine also had 50 million people at independence in 1991 now it’s 37 million. I do want to add though Poland is one of the best run countries in Europe and is a template for the rest of Eastern Europe.

    What made it so successful compared to it’s eastern European neighbors? They all had less than fun times together in the Warsaw Pact
