    Belgische Grenzen, die tatsächlich Sinn machen


    Ich weiß, dass Crossposting nicht erlaubt ist, daher hoffe ich, dass das Posten dieses Links in Ordnung ist:

    Auf dem Subreddit Mapporncirclejerk posten die Leute oft die Grenzen ihrer Fantasiewelt, und was immer passiert, ist, die Niederlande mit Flandern, Frankreich mit Wallonien und den deutschsprachigen Teil mit Deutschland zu verbinden, ohne wirklich zu verstehen, dass es keine wirkliche gemeinsame Geschichte Flanderns mit den Niederlanden gibt (es sei denn, wir sprechen über Burgund, was eher der Fall ist, wenn ein Teil der Niederlande Teil des von Brüssel/Leuven regierten Burgunds war). oder Wallonien mit Frankreich.

    Also habe ich einen Gegenposten gemacht, mit belgischen Grenzen, die etwas sinnvoller sind; historisch und kulturell. Es ist Satire, und ich bin mir durchaus bewusst, dass die Geschichte weitaus differenzierter und komplexer ist, um für diese Karte zu argumentieren. Aber es ist weitaus sinnvoller, als die Niederlande mit Flandern zu kombinieren.

      I had made a previous post. However, I took another map, because the previous one included Zeeland, and there is very little historical reason to include that in a fantastical greater Belgium.

      You forgot that French inland dent in the Namur province.

      Unironically, I think a united BW-BXL-VL.B as the third region would be a good thing, splitting these was a mistake.

      Herstel dan ook Brabant en dump Antwerpen. Een provincie naar Antwerpen vernoemen, was een grote historische fout. /s

      I feel it’s a bit lazy, mostly just using existing borders/provinces and throwing some stuff together.

      For example, historically and culturally, Maastricht and surroundings are more linked to Liège than to the rest of Limburg.

      Zeeland would make sense, until you read about how it came to be: it was The Dutch who reclaimed the land from the sea. So, it was never Belgian, not even in the old days because it barely existed.

      Need to add Dutch Zeeland as a strategic land to control shipping in the Schelde.
      Need to also expand the oostkantons to include Aachen.
