Why doesn’t the professor cite Article 21 of the Japanese Constitution that guarantees freedom of expression? Unless he called her a bitch or somerhing?
The comment in question seems extremely tame by the standards of online social media posts. He just said that lots of people are depressed by Takaichi, then made a joke about spelling her name with the kanji for depression in it.
Its pretty alarming that academic freedom is limited like this.
