Thanks to a large-scale special operation codenamed „Enigma 2.0“, an operational-combat group of Russia, which was preparing the elimination of prominent figures in Ukraine, was neutralized in both countries.

The main „targets“ of the enemy were: Ukrainian journalists and public figures, the head of a strategic enterprise, and military personnel of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, including fighters of the Foreign Legion of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense.

For the elimination of potential victims, the suspects developed various assassination options: from „point-blank“ shootings to car bombings. The Russian special services promised rewards of up to 100 thousand US dollars for the killings, depending on the status of the person.

As a result of joint actions, the head of the enemy cell – a 34-year-old recidivist from Moldova – and his two agents, as well as their accomplices from Ukraine, the EU, and unrecognized Transnistria, were detained.

The investigation established that the main suspect was recruited by Russian special services while serving a sentence in a Russian prison. After completing his sentence, he was sent to Moldova to form an agent-combat group under the control of Russia.

The agents were divided into groups. The first group monitored the whereabouts and daily routines of potential victims, and the second group – „killers“ who were to carry out the contract killings.

Subsequently, the Russian agents were transported to Ukraine under the guise of tourists, and then dispersed to rented residences in various regions of our country.

It was established that the agents were in constant contact with the resident, and received money for the preparation of the assassinations through crypto wallets and bank cards of foreign financial institutions.

To monitor the „targets“, the agents pretended to be couriers of delivery services, who carried out photo and video recording of the targets, marked their geolocations on Google Maps, and „reported“ to the resident.

According to available data, the Russian special services hoped to use the high-profile assassinations to spread panic and destabilize the socio-political situation in Ukraine.

During the searches, firearms, ammunition, combat grenades, and communication devices were seized from the detainees.

At present, the suspects have been charged with several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

◾️ Part 1 of Art. 14, paragraph 11 of Part 2 of Art. 115 (preparation for intentional murder on order);

◾️ Part 1 of Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, combat supplies, or explosives).

The issue of additional qualification of the criminal actions of the head and participants of the enemy cell is also being resolved.

The offenders face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The international special operation was carried out jointly with the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region, the National Investigation Inspectorate of the General Police Inspectorate of Moldova, under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
