Kinda surprised by Denmark tbf. Sure the geography of the mainland is not great for sports like skiing or snowboarding, but the Netherlands have a similar geography and they have plenty of medals

  4. Lots of interesting omissions but no one has mentioned India, which has a billion people and plenty of mountains (though I’m not sure how many are reasonably suited to winter sports).

  5. Australia’s first was the speed skater in 2002. They came into this Olympics with 6 winter golds and already have 3 more.

New Zealand’s first were the two they got four years ago. I did notice they had more qualifying big air snowboarders than the U.S. and Canada did this go-around.

Funny how Brazil which gets pretty much not snow has medals while Chile and Argentina which have extensive snow-capped mountains haven’t.

Not me, committing myself to perfect a einter sport and switch my citizenship to an African country amd be the first ever African gold medalist at winter olympics.
