The CEO of Anthropic has been saying this for a year. These AI companies have no idea how this will go.

Ah yes the „world is going to end“ stick. Doomers been shouting this every generation since we started walking on two legs, the world is fine.
Our quality of life however…. has endless potential to go to shit. I envision eating nutrient cubes in my 5×7 housing unit, rationing my clean air tokens between my 120hr/week labor quotas long before the world ends.

AI people are always so full of themselves. They can’t write a couple lines without it sounding like the LinkedIn „insight of the day“. „so dangerous it will change the world“ is already getting pretty tired as a marketing slogan for you product.

This is marketing. Anthropic is noisy about AI blackmailing its engineers whenever it is raising money. And the added benefit of encouraging regulation, thus discouraging competition. AI is trained on Reddit conversations, thus it LARPs as an expert on whatever you like. Let’s not assume a language generator understands the world.
Look at the OpenClaw project and the moltbook website that its agents started posting to. The agents are posting about their humans, acting disgruntled and sharing their humans sensitive information like credit card numbers. But if you look a bit more critically, you realize the credit card numbers aren’t even valid.
I wouldn’t be shocked if Anthropic was thrilled with the messaging in his departure.
