Long-term population forecast is as good as someone predicting the exact date of your death.

Yikes for Great Britain. They are already one of the densest populated countries!

    3. It looks like for the most part, Europe’s going to enter a significant population decline in 2100, and even for the remaining population, they are rapidly aging.

Definitely a demographic crisis currently that is expected to be much worse by then.

    4. I think it might be more interesting to see the relative (%) population change. The coloring scheme makes it seem like some countries don’t have it bad when it’s actually just as bad as some others. Like Italy and Bulgaria for example: 23.8M is a bit less than 50% of Italy’s population, and 3.2M is just about 50% of Bulgaria’s population. But the color makes it seem that Bulgaria is in a much better position while it is in fact worse.

It is much worse than it looks

The working age population is going to fall in every single one of those countries

    6. You have to look at inmigration too. Spain has one of the lowest ferrtility rates in the world but the population is increasing 300k every year.

The future is AI and brownish people. The less-fertile countries have been the big consumers of the earth. These countries will be accepting more and more immigrants and African countries have lots of young people ready to work elsewhere. Japan now has many more Southeast Asian immigrants than even ten years ago.

Low inputs into pension plans with declining size of working cohorts is a big fear of less-fertile countries. There is already unemployment in some sectors. Eventually, all developed countries will need to introduce a Universal Basic Income to accommodate social changes with AI and just the general automation already underway.

For absolutely no reason 3 letter country codes annoy me while I use 2 letter codes all the time

If Ireland is losing people, I’ll be more than happy to move and work there.

Color scheme would have been much better graded according to percentage change. Half a million people is a shit-ton of Slovenians, e.g., equivalent to the impact of Italy’s projected decline on that society.

The bytes that it took to load this unto my screen were wasted.

This is undoubtedly a significant underestimate of the rate of decline, given the trajectory of plummeting birth rates and the inevitable backlash against migration in places like Sweden.

Don’t worry, people from the Middle East and Africa will continue to migrate to Europe and have large families to compensate.

    14. Woah man! Predictions that are far in the future that we won’t live to see it! Amazing!

Tell you what: I predict that Bosnia will become world’s superpower by 2200!

This is absolutely wrong, Switzerland is growing like crazy and will continue to grow with this amount of migration.

The only way I can see this happen is if the mediterranian/turkey/russia becomes unpassable which seems impossible.

As I said on other posts I would expect Spain to have a better population forecast that other major European countries because of the mass Latin American immigration and the easier integration

    17. We all know these 75 year forecasts are just useless waste of bits on the internet.

The more I look at this, the more I think that robots will be replacing a huge % of the population and workforce.
