Basically, msc just means the conditions of the environment are very good with very little impact on the surrounding eco system. And also just a fyi, almost all mussels are farmed in normal ocean water, either on large wooden poles that are scraped off with a machine, or in long ropes attached to the ocean floor. But it’s all a man made process.
I honestly didn’t even know you could buy mussels that were caught in the wild. Aren’t they all aquaculture?
ETA: So apparently farming mussels is even preferable to fishing them because they use large nets that dredge the seabed which is quite harmful.
It just means, that the fishing is substainable and carrefully for the fish Stock. MSC is a company after all, so they will take money to certify that aqua culture will not endanger the fish stock.
