    1. Anyone in a position to issue orders to subordinates knows that it is illegal to kill unarmed men.

Military 101. Basic knowledge everyone learns in their first year, reiterated during pre-deployment training.

    3. XxNimblyBimblyXx on

Legit question is there international law about not killing survivors of a military target/vehicle, if this was a legit declared war?

    4. There are stories of the ACTUAL nazis having more respect for POW’s and the laws of war than this administration does. If more people were capable of thinking critically, it would really make you think.

    5. Follow-up: „Would you have followed an order to hit it the first time?“

    6. EmperorsCanaries on

Bro, even the first strike was illegal. It’s just straight up murder

    7. Cellophane7 on

Well I suppose I appreciate republicans handling us an obvious out from their nonsensical traitor claims. Not even magats can deny that perhaps Democrats had a point with Hennessybreath issuing wildly illegal orders to murder helpless noncombatants.

What the fuck am I saying? Of course they’ll deny it. Reality is whatever trump says it is to <40% of the county.

Incoming recall and court martial for failure to obey hypothetical illegal orders.

    9. YardOptimal9329 on

Ok but why are all these stories making it seem like the first order was legal??!!!! What’s this emphasis on the second one, which was heinous, as if the first one was lawful?

    10. The military leadership going along with these executions are equally as guilty as Hegseth.

    11. whichwitch9 on

The second order was unconstitutional and clearly so. It was pure murder. The soldiers who did it may have some plausible deniability depending on what they knew and how they were given, but very likely they are on the hook for murder here in a legal sense. And much less likely to be remembered in Trump’s pardons. They can’t pay his bribes, and he just doesn’t care about them.

    12. Itsprobablysarcasm on

Everyone in that chain of command who did carry out the order needs to be charged and held to account.

America really needs to start rooting out the cancer that is MAGA or it is going to destroy the nation.

Not that it would happen, but in the slim hypothetical that Capt Kelly is impacted by recalling him to the military and Court Martialing him, for me would be the absolute last straw in a bed of last straws.

    14. Because it’s illegal and Mark Kelly is a man of integrity and intelligence.

    15. MyFirstCarWasA_Vega on

Killing survivors has always been our military’s credo. Wait. Stop. Reverse that. Thanks Willy.

I won’t even lie on powerpoints when my bosses ask me to, I sure as hell ain’t war criming anyone

When you execute of an enemy combatant who is ‘hors de combat,’ or taken out of the fight due to injury or surrender, you break the Law of Armed Confict. No matter how you cut it, thats illegal.

I’m glad people like Mark Kelly are out there challenging Trump. It helps. Every bit helps.

All uniformed personnel involved need to be investigated, down to the junior enlisted

    20. Every single person who followed that order should be prosecuted for war crimes

    21. Sober_Alcoholic_ on

“I don’t bow down to rogue, malignant narcissists masquerading as Kings, I obey the law”

    22. They can spin politics with the first strike.

If true, the follow-up strike, on non-combatants is a war crime or murder.

This is indefensible and every person in that chain of command should be investigated to be charged with murder.

The US must uphold the rules of war or you lose all credibility internationally and expose all our allied armed forces to the same fate.

    23. GuitarGeezer on

The first order was unlawful, the second even more so.

The context matters. This administration is systematically engaged in improper use of military and police and criminal justice Soviet style showtrial prosecutions to enact a dictatorship contrary to the constitution as Trump and Co. has more or less publicly stated. “I will be a dictator” Hannity: you were kidding right about saying I will be dictator and revenge on personal enemies “no, no they have to pay” and the infamous text to AG Bondi demanding persecutions. And 800 other utterances. This administration has put all government on notice they are here to abuse the system and the law be damned (or worse as Emil Bove allegedly says). That has a price, one would hope. It is not as if a soldier can say he just had no idea this admin was engaged in abuse of the rule of law to the point of it being a fetish.

    24. FalseAnimal on

The soldiers who did this will be tapped to lead the first strikes against american cities.

    25. AM radio talked about how he and the others didn’t give an example of what would count as an „illegal order“. Guess they have one now.

    26. Background-Athlete16 on

      People don’t understand.

Not only is this murder, but it is just dumb when it comes to tracking down drugs.

Imagine being able to capture drug traffickers alive and interrogate them about their drug lanes…

There are very literally reasons NOT to kill them, if they are actual drug traffickers.

You want to know something though?

I think they are blowing up random boats. I genuinely think they are blowing up any suspicious looking boats that may have PEOPLE on them, not drugs, but immigrants.

When we find out, they will try to say those immigrant families were trafficking drugs… But I’m telling you this is 100% them covering their asses for blowing up boats taking immigrants to places.

    27. Surprise_Special on

This is no different then setting up a machine gun at the border of Mexico and killing every person who might be bringing drugs across.

    28. Cultural_Pudding5242 on

Everything we teach our kids not to be is what these people are. Cancerous scourges. Not a shred of good human in them; the concept completely escapes them.

Fuck Kegsbreath, fuck pedo Trump, and fuck everyone who elected this murderous and unlawful regime.

    30. So this happens about 2 weeks after I read the article about how cheeto gutted the military’s JAG corps. Presumably, anyone who raised objections based on the law was simply replaced by people who don’t raise those objections.

    31. Project Nuremberg 2029

We need to draw up lists of murderers, war criminals and billionaire industrialists who enabled the crimes for trials like the allies did prior to winning WW2.
