Telling the people in the trenches how to do their jobs is the kind of „hit-and-run“ management that brings companies down. I am not talking necessarily about NVIDIA (for now), but definitely the ton of other companies.

It’s actually good advice to do this without telling anyone. Do this and enjoying working less while the companies are trying to figure out how to use ai and before ai is good enough to fully take over.

Automation isn’t bad. What’s bad is automation without control.
It’s a matter of time automation happens to simple tasks and it’s not that bad. Supposedly it would mean that we can alocate that time to complex tasks, and that’s good.
What would be bad is not having control over those automated simple tasks. And if that control is lost along the way, well, i would say that we might be in real trouble. Worse of all is if that control is done by one large company or organization. Then those sci-fi movies won’t be sci-fi anymore.
AI is the biblical devil. Change my mind.

Just to be clear there’s “peak AI” in theory. As jobs that could feasibly be automated become automated AND chips get more powerful unless space, these hyperscale projects will have to consolidate and condense. Leaving behind huge buildings in 15-20 years
It has always been the case since we began using stone tools 3.3 million years ago that we optimize the use of energy. Energy, no matter where it comes from, has a cost.
And the hard truth is that companies do not exist to employee people. They exist to sell a product or service to create profits for the owners/shareholders. Employees do not work for companies to make a profit for the owners. They work to make a paycheck for themselves. When both occur, the owners and the employee are satisfied.
Companies are going to optimize their energy usage (all of which is cost) because doing so increases their profit. This is just like any of us deciding to cancel a subscription we don’t feel is worth the money or any other thing we do to optimize our spending.
The thing we all should be doing is learning how to do our jobs better and if AI can help, learn how to use it. Why? Because if it can help, you’re not going to lose your job to AI. You’re going to lose your job to someone else who can do it more efficiently with AI.
