The Supreme Court is more likely to strike down the tariffs as illegal and refund the money to **checks notes** Walmart and friends who paid these *unfair* prices and totally didn’t pass the cost on to consumers.

Congressional Republicans are pretty consistent in their philosophy that the government, under no circumstances, should help poor people.

Now if Trump created an income threshold, like only people making over $1M a year get the checks, they’d be in favor.

because it would only make trump look good, not the rest of them. and since trump is now in lame duck status, making dear leader look good is no longer their top priority.

    4. They will never send out the $2,000 checks, nor should they.

It is a shame that this administration is unable to make all of these cuts about something good. Instead, they punish ordinary Americans and help the wealthy and ultrawealthy. Pathetic.

Trump loves to make big promises that aren’t realistic and then make someone else the fall person.

How about Congress tell Trump no tariffs so people don’t have to pay out the ass for diapers and everything else.

    7. AstroSpoony on

Does that mean Trump promises whatever happens to cross his mind and then doesn’t stick to it?

That’s unexpected from someone who lies all the time…

    8. Here before Trump goes full socialist upon realizing his biggest fans of him as a person and the only ones who would ever feel sorry for him are the most poor people on the continent lol. 🤞😂

    9. Remember how when after 3 or 4 years after the $1,200 COVID checks they were saying that’s the reason people don’t want to work? With $2,000, I could basically retire

Trumps commerce’s secretary who turned his billion dollar company over to his 20 something sons “wink wink” has a program betting the tariffs will be cancelled. Offers to get the money from Feds for a 30 percent cut

So they knew and it was just another way to flow wealth up again from middle class and below. Plus this is hitting the millionaire class this time. All those family owned businesses took huge hits and some went bankrupt. I knew that they were next after draining. The people below them first. These oligarchs are psychopaths. https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/democrats-warn-cantor-fitzgerald-tariff-143852726.html.

Oh, so NOW Congress controls the purse. Got it.

Shame, I was going to gleefully give any stupid check he sent to the most queer socialist cause I could find.

    12. Good, sending those checks is a bad idea, they would drive up inflation even more. If Republicans truly want to help Americans who are struggling, they would focus on the tariffs and other policies affecting affordability in general.

These tariffs refunds will go to groups like Cantor Fitzgerald. This group is owned by Howard Lutnick’s sons. Groups such as Cantor Fitzgerald bought a lot of companies tariff refunds rights as soon as trump started charging americans.

Howard Lutnick is the commerce secretary.

Im guessing he knew the tariffs are illegal, and with his inside knowledge he leaked this information to his family and friends in a very trumpy style.

That’s because they owe us the $5000 DOGE refund checks first, amirite?

    15. > „I mean, everybody’s got their own idea,“ Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona told BI. „I would prefer we reduce the overall tax rate, and make that permanent.“

Using taxes to reduce taxes. Why hasn’t anyone thought of that before!?

Oh wait, were using taxes that mainly effect the working class to reduce taxes on the billionaire class? Great…

    16. Hollowpetalz on

Republicans are suppose to be fiscally responsible, not just handing out cash

    17. VR_Raccoonteur on

Oh so they do have the power of the purse? Where were they when Trump decided to hand $40B to Argentina?

    18. Let me guess. No tariff rebate checks, SCOTUS will strike down all of Trump’s tariffs but corporations will still keep their prices inflated afterwards.

Remember this for when everyone insists Republicans just blindly follow the Orange Idiot. Or that he’s been taking them anywhere they don’t approve of already.

He’s a fascist shit, but he’s a populist fascist shit and his populism is often shut down when it doesn’t serve Republican Overlord interests.
