The Supreme Court is more likely to strike down the tariffs as illegal and refund the money to **checks notes** Walmart and friends who paid these *unfair* prices and totally didn’t pass the cost on to consumers.
Congressional Republicans are pretty consistent in their philosophy that the government, under no circumstances, should help poor people.
Now if Trump created an income threshold, like only people making over $1M a year get the checks, they’d be in favor.
because it would only make trump look good, not the rest of them. and since trump is now in lame duck status, making dear leader look good is no longer their top priority.
They will never send out the $2,000 checks, nor should they.
It is a shame that this administration is unable to make all of these cuts about something good. Instead, they punish ordinary Americans and help the wealthy and ultrawealthy. Pathetic.

Good, sending those checks is a bad idea, they would drive up inflation even more. If Republicans truly want to help Americans who are struggling, they would focus on the tariffs and other policies affecting affordability in general.
These tariffs refunds will go to groups like Cantor Fitzgerald. This group is owned by Howard Lutnick’s sons. Groups such as Cantor Fitzgerald bought a lot of companies tariff refunds rights as soon as trump started charging americans.
Howard Lutnick is the commerce secretary.
Im guessing he knew the tariffs are illegal, and with his inside knowledge he leaked this information to his family and friends in a very trumpy style.
