Crime rates are usually measured per 1000 inhabitants and if the number of people in an area is larger than the number of inhabitants, the crime rate will automatically be higher even if the individual risk is not. This for example means football stadiums, concert locations and airports. And you can easily find the O2, several football stadiums and Heathrow on the map because they are darker red.

It goes to show that the narrative in a lot of the right wing press about London being totally crime infested is a load of rubbish. Most of the city is relatively very safe compared to the rest of the country.
In absolute terms there is a lot of crime, but that’s largely because the population is a large as a small country’s.
For those that have never visited before, London is numerous towns and villages, and a couple of cities, all merged into one big metropolis. The outer edges are very green.

Here’s some alternative data, from a named source.. [https://www.eufy.com/uk/blogs/security-camera/crime-rate-in-london-england](https://www.eufy.com/uk/blogs/security-camera/crime-rate-in-london-england)

Crime in London is very under reported. Most londeners know if this personally. These maps are just puff piece propaganda
London gets a lot more funding than the North so reckon they are going ok.
Dark green for me, phew
You put the wrong map up. This is the exact map that shows the highest density of black people.
What’s so bad about North Greenwich and the area around the O2??? Other red and orange areas make sense.
I wonder why ??
Tube and train stations cause more people to go to specific places, and then crime happens.
Crime doesn’t happen where people live, particularly violent crime.
Does 100%+ mean 100% above the national average, or 100% of (equal to) the national average?
I’m trying to find the houses of parliament on here.
