    1. Does anyone really want the democrats to respect the filibuster the next time they gain a simple majority?

Another day another play ran from the Project 2025 playbook.

Beginning on page 295 discusses cutting farm subsidies and SNAP.

Remember, Republicans want you and your family to starve to death!

Any federal workers here? I pray whatever deal they finally reach requires back pay

Totally agree, @POTUS! I’m writing the bill right now.

We must stop taxpayer money from going to insurance companies and instead give it directly to Americans in HSA-style accounts and let them buy the health care they want. This will increase competition & drive down costs.

I’m told this is about the original ACA subsidies not the enhanced premium tax credits which are about to expire

So not only do republicans want to not negotiate on the current subsidies, they also want to cut the original ones as well. Wonderful.

I think people are underestimating how much of a catastrophe Thanksgiving is going to be. Its not just footnote on the news bad. Its sell your stocks Monday morning bad.

GOP SEN. JOHN KENNEDY: It may be 2026 when we’ll come out of the shutdown.

      REPORTERS: 😳

KENNEDY: I’m not kidding, you guys. I mean, you see what I see. Okay? This shutdown is going to last a long time. What’s going to get us out of it?

Please keep it going that long. It could only end well for you guys.

    8. So many individual posters saying, „I voted for Trump 3 times, but now that t’s affecting me I didn’t vote for this!“ (see /r/leopardsatemyface)

I really wish that Americans, in general, didn’t have their heads so stuck up their asses, to realize, if it happens to someone like them, IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU.

      Thanksgiving is in 19 days.

The Wednesday before, the busiest travel day of the year, is in 18.

      So literally 2.5 weeks.

TSA is already exhausted, underpaid, stressed, all the adjectives.

Is it morose of me to think something terrible could happen?

Serious question. What happens if they decide to just never re-open the government to prevent that Congresswoman from being sworn in so the Epstein file vote can’t happen? What kind of impact would there be from the shutdown going on until midterms?

    11. America deserves this…

Don’t get me wrong, large swathes of INDIVIDUALS in America don’t deserve this (ie those who didn’t vote for Trump).

But if a country elects a person like Trump by popular vote, they deserve the hurt that follows…

My position has not changed. They should not cave period. There are always consequences but it’s the right fight. We really should have healthcare for all but at least the affordable Care act subsidies makes it halfway affordable for most. Without those subsidies I know I wouldn’t be able to afford healthcare. honestly I don’t think the Democrats are risking anything politically because who are they going to go vote for the Republicans who are just going to strip more and more benefits for them in the long run just as they’ve done this year. also this keeps the government from or at least thinking harder before they keep up with their endless wars and vigilanti strikes. I know the beans and rice aren’t the ideal holiday meal but it’s not the end of the world.

I’ve noticed that guy who commented „come on ATC just end this already“ every day has stopped.

So many people are forgetting that food isn’t the only thing people need. Yes food insecurity and heat are a huge problem, but what about gas and parking? How are government workers going to work if they can’t afford to go to work?

    15. What do you guys think about people who are saying the Dems should be demanding way more to end the shutdown?

    16. BornThought4074 on

„Which party do you trust more to handle SNAP?“

      Democrats: 51%
      Republicans: 43%
