If Qantas succeeds in establishing the direct London-Sydney route, it will be the longest flight in the world at 17,000 kilometers.

I think it would be so cool to fly over the North Pole!

I don’t understand the routes. Does it pass through the North Pole or detour through Europe or the Pacific?

It can’t do the route over Russian airspace these days.

When the Kamchatka earthquake + volcano happened, they couldn’t fly that way and had to go east…. which meant a refuelling stop in LAX for a total trip time of sth like 23.5hrs

18-16 hours in a plane sounds like hell. I once had a 15 hour flight and I’d never do it again unless I could pay to get out of Economy.

We should have an option to get sedated during the flight lol

I took that route 20 years ago when SQ first opened it. At that time, I flew A340.
