    1. If Qantas succeeds in establishing the direct London-Sydney route, it will be the longest flight in the world at 17,000 kilometers.

    2. I don’t understand the routes. Does it pass through the North Pole or detour through Europe or the Pacific?

When the Kamchatka earthquake + volcano happened, they couldn’t fly that way and had to go east…. which meant a refuelling stop in LAX for a total trip time of sth like 23.5hrs

18-16 hours in a plane sounds like hell. I once had a 15 hour flight and I’d never do it again unless I could pay to get out of Economy.

    5. I took that route 20 years ago when SQ first opened it. At that time, I flew A340.
