Watch all the people who complain about vegans naming everything after meat complain about this!

Apparently the EU Law will forbid the use of words like ’sausage‘ and ‚burger‘, as it is claimed this falsely implies meaty food rather than vegetarian/vegan. Their suggested replacements are tube or disc.

I don’t think a Greggs Vegan Tube Roll, or a Maccy Veggie-Disc will sell quite as well!

If we are doing this can we at least rename ‚oat drink‘ back to ‚oat milk‘

What are they going to rename them as, though? Meatless sticks? Pussy fingers?

Taken straight from the final Christmas special of Yes Minister and the Emulsified High Fat Offal Tube

    6. Are they gonna rename artichoke hearts and heads of cabbage?

The next reasonable step from here, of course, is banning meat sausages in case the shape confuses people into thinking they’re cucumbers.

Is there A single normal human being that cares about vegan stuff using a similar name?

    8. I didn’t have Greggs getting firebombed by loyalist paramilitaries on my bingo card, but there we go.

I thought Jim Hacker sorted this for us?

      No more gelatinous offal tubes.

As ridiculous as this is, it’s triggered be a rise in plant based alternatives and a rise in consumption of them. So I see it as a positive.

I love how protective real sausage eaters get about names of vegan food. Vegans don’t care what it’s called, they’re generally just happy they’re able to eat something on the menu

Absolute joke. Sausage comes from vulgar Latin doesn’t it? Something spiced in a casing. Not necessarily meat.

It was ridiculous decisions like this that fed the Daily Mail a steady stream of headlines for decades. Barmy bureaucrats of Brussels.

    14. With everything going on right now, this is what the EU puts time towards. Disappointing and unserious.

Brian Buttefield would be proud. Can’t wait for my non-meat cylinders!

Good. Always annoyed me that vegans always bitch about animal product being murdered, then call their alternatives by the meat name

    17. Next month, Hot Dogs no longer to be called Hot Dogs unless said Hot Dogs contain dog.

The idea of vegan is great, as an option. But it does correlate that everything „vegan“ is healthier or better for the environment. Some companies use the term or the ideology as a way to garner new clients, or hawk to others. Some of the ingredients are far from ethical, healthy or legitimate. In a consumer-driven society, it’s the con one must be on the lookout for.

Russian tanks pouring over Europe’s borders but look, protecting the meat industry from vegan products calling themselves „sausages“ is the real priority here.
