Putin’s Russia is only getting nastier. The political system has become violent and quasi-fascist. The economy is thoroughly mobilized for war. Putin is forging deeper ties with other US adversaries, like China and North Korea. He believes his country is already locked in an existential conflict with “the collective west.”

That struggle will continue, in one form or another, even after the war in Ukraine ends. It may even intensify, as China supports Russia’s below-the-threshold assault.

Chinese meddling in Europe isn’t nearly as aggressive as Putin’s. But Chinese ships have been involved in cable-cutting incidents in the Baltic. Chinese cyberattacks have become more ambitious and more common. Western officials allege a growing symbiosis between Russian and Chinese disinformation campaigns.

Dictatorial regimes will have to put aside differences for the common cause & continued oppression of its people leaving the few to retain power & wealth, these regimes must continue to oppose human rights & freedoms to survive.

I mean this isn’t good for Europe but what do you expect? Russia and China aren’t friends but they’re geographic neighbours and closer allies than China and Europe have been since the fall of the Soviet Union.

China’s support of Russia is always going to be a given. What we can hope is they simply remain a sort of supportive role without serious involvement in the war, deploying troops or a full commitment to Ukraine’s utter defeat.

China has less at stake than Europe does so hopefully this keeps Europe’s involvement more detrimental to Russia’s war effort than the other way around.

China is investing more money to several small countries in Africa – for example Sambia – than they invest in russia.

Sure, China has made „promises“ to invest in russia worth of several hundreds of millions BUT they are all just words for now. About 0,25% of China’s foreign invests are in russia at the moment. Their biggest and direct neighbour. Makes you wonder…

I think this is it. With the media literacy in the comments nothing more needs to be said. Reality has become partisan. As in 1984: „We have always been at war with East Asia“. We are already living in the dystopia we so wanted to prevent.

Yeah. Europe has shown that it will never under any circumstance retaliate for hybrid warfare on EU countries, so why wouldn’t China get in on the action? It is, after all, completely risk-free.
