Putin’s Russia is only getting nastier. The political system has become violent and quasi-fascist. The economy is thoroughly mobilized for war. Putin is forging deeper ties with other US adversaries, like China and North Korea. He believes his country is already locked in an existential conflict with “the collective west.”

That struggle will continue, in one form or another, even after the war in Ukraine ends. It may even intensify, as China supports Russia’s below-the-threshold assault.

Chinese meddling in Europe isn’t nearly as aggressive as Putin’s. But Chinese ships have been involved in cable-cutting incidents in the Baltic. Chinese cyberattacks have become more ambitious and more common. Western officials allege a growing symbiosis between Russian and Chinese disinformation campaigns.

    2. Not like thats been painfully obvious for 2 years already? I guess the messaging, the chauvinism and the actions werent obvious enough?

Cant wait for local sinophiles to suck this regime off again because they now make nice cars or make wind mills. Actual NPCs.

Dictatorial regimes will have to put aside differences for the common cause & continued oppression of its people leaving the few to retain power & wealth, these regimes must continue to oppose human rights & freedoms to survive.

This is truly disconcerting. Western European leaders are working restlessly to draft up a strongly worded letter.

Aside from his opinion, if Kissinger gets to endow a chair I don’t see why lesser war criminals shouldn’t get to.

    6. I mean this isn’t good for Europe but what do you expect? Russia and China aren’t friends but they’re geographic neighbours and closer allies than China and Europe have been since the fall of the Soviet Union.

China’s support of Russia is always going to be a given. What we can hope is they simply remain a sort of supportive role without serious involvement in the war, deploying troops or a full commitment to Ukraine’s utter defeat.

China has less at stake than Europe does so hopefully this keeps Europe’s involvement more detrimental to Russia’s war effort than the other way around.

More likely they are partners in crime since that Olympic Games meeting before 2022. Probably the only thing that went wrong is war in Ukraine. The first stage actually of their plan, lol.

TikTok is China’s strongest weapon. I suppose they have a „Ministry of Mental Enfeeblement of Western Societies“ by now.

What do you mean „joining“. China is the mastermind behind that. Russia is just a tool …

    10. IndianGolum on

Lol 😂 China is also behind this, last week it was India and Brazil. Looks like the whole world is conspiring 😐 against a few.

    11. China is investing more money to several small countries in Africa – for example Sambia – than they invest in russia.

Sure, China has made „promises“ to invest in russia worth of several hundreds of millions BUT they are all just words for now. About 0,25% of China’s foreign invests are in russia at the moment. Their biggest and direct neighbour. Makes you wonder…

Fair fight. Europe and Usa versus Russia and China! I want to livein a multipolar world

    13. I think the heading should be opposite, Russia finally joined China against Europe.

    14. Same_Common4485 on

Trump salivating to join China and Russia for a coordinated attack on a vulnerable and slow Europe that doesn’t have a real army to speak of

    15. AFAIK a Chinese delegation is coming to visit some European countries. Why not showing them the zoo instead of discussing and opening up the industry? Seriously, how you can make business with your enemy?

    16. CCP and its leadership hates the Western civilization with passion.

Europeans and Americans (despite Trump) are allies and a family in shared values, and we need to build alliances also with others in the world who want to share these values.

    17. Paywalled opinion column by a „Henry Kissinger Distinguished Professor“ reposted with clickbaity title on reddit.

I think this is it. With the media literacy in the comments nothing more needs to be said. Reality has become partisan. As in 1984: „We have always been at war with East Asia“. We are already living in the dystopia we so wanted to prevent.

China is silly for not just expanding to russia. They could just walk to the east of Ural and call it their own. Easy.

Would the world give a damn? Could the world give a damn?

    19. Independent-Day-9170 on

Yeah. Europe has shown that it will never under any circumstance retaliate for hybrid warfare on EU countries, so why wouldn’t China get in on the action? It is, after all, completely risk-free.

    20. Nearby-Chocolate-289 on

Any country working with China does not benefit from EU trade, simps.

    21. Far_Note6719 on

Of course they do. They want to bind western military in this war to enter Taiwan easily.

    22. switchquest on

Yes. Let buy more ‚Made in China‘ and fund our own downfall.

Ok. It’s our downfall, but at least we’ll have cheap shit to throw in the garbage when it fails after 3 uses.

Well half of Ukrainian drone parts come from China. They are happy to play all sides against each other.

We could have build what China did, probably not this fast and now we wouldn’t be here, but no we had to exploit the labour there also…….this is the price of that
