    1. No SNAP for hungry kids in the USA but US taxpayers can bail out Argentina, are we Making Argentina Great Again?

    2. FoundationGreat7072 on

Read another way, US needs more debt bonds to keep the econmy going.

    3. capitalism is so great it just needs some socialism when it eventually fails every few years

    4. Thought Argentina was supposed to be this libertarian utopia that showcasing the world the beneficial reality that massive deregulation and complete market capitalism was the most perfect system a society could operate under

But now it needs a bailout?

    5. So rightwing morons propping up ANOTHER rightwing moron. And shitting all over the usa and its citizens. Fuck trump, vance, miller and the whole regime

What is this boondoggle going to cost the US? Maybe it’s $1 into you know whos bank account for every $100 sent as a „loan“ to his favorite president of the week

Bessent’s backstop for Argentina with Treasury’s occasionally used $219.5 billion Exchange Stabilization Fund sent the peso and other Argentine assets [soaring](https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/argentina-markets-soar-after-us-bessent-pledges-support-2025-09-22/) after major losses last week. But he said decisions on any U.S. intervention would come after he and President Donald Trump meet with Argentine President Javier Milei in New York on Tuesday.

      Using….the government….to….bail out….libertarians.

      This fucking timeline.

It’s not socialism if we give our money to someone else, or something.

      Anyway, release the Epstein files

For the first 18 month of his presidency Milei cut inflation from 350% to 35%, ended budget deficit first time from 2012, pulled out around 20% of population above poverty line. And this is after he got country that has been in recession for more than 50 years and was ravaged by leftists for decades. Previous presidents were overthrown and put into prison or run from Argentina (with hundreds of millions stolen dollars).

I understand, that when you are too far left, everything looks far right. But before throwing around words like „fascists“, I suggest you actually read world history and how well far left ideologies fared so far (spoiler: fascists are very moderate by comparison).

Any „far“ is bad. And seems like snowflakes forgot how both of them really look like.

There is nothing Libertarians like better than a government hand out.

It’s important to understand WHY Trump is doing this. There were elections in the province of Buenos Aires a couple weeks back. Buenos Aires represents 40% of the nations electorate, and his party was beaten by its main opposition by a 13 point margin AFTER Milei publicly made the vote itself a referendum on his government by hyping up it’s importance. The numbers show that he’s essentially lost all the electoral gains that brought him into power, and he lost all of that ground largely because the economy has grown stagnant and has started to actually shrink again, while the Argentinian Peso has continued to lose value. People expected a lot more in exchange for the mass government layoffs and reduction in social services/benefits.

Now he’s in a hole electorally and the countries midterm elections are next month, setting up Milei to lose control of the legislature. Trump doesn’t want that to happen because he’s already publicly embraced Milei, and it would be personally embarrassing to him if Milei lost the midterms, so he’s gonna do everything he can to prop up their economy until their elections are over.

    12. Let’s see if I get this right.

      A libertarian economy…

      Is receiving monetary help…

      From a government?

What about our economy here? What about Jobs here? Come on, people. If you want to do that kind of BS on the global stage, you are going to have to start taxing billionaires

    14. See anarcho capitalism works if you have the world’s largest economy writing you blank checks.

    15. I god damn *hate* this government

They literally do this just to piss us off

    16. Maintaining the illusion that aggressive deregulation solves all problems is essential.

    17. Unusual_Specialist on

Ironic when you think about his stance on foreign aid with every other country, but reverses course on Argentina who has close ties as a sanctuary for facist leaders in 1945.

    18. Mmm good I love high rates, high COL but bail out other countries in place. I love it.

    19. Guess those libertarian policies don’t work.

Also how is maga ok with this if they hate spending elsewhere. Oh that’s right, they don’t actually care about anything

    20. Nothing says Libertarian like a foreign government stepping into to subsidize you roflmao.

    21. brokeboipobre on

So Milei will line his pockets with this cash infusion and ask for more money in a year?

    22. America first! Right?

Just like “American workers first” banners.

Seems like every time they say first, they mean first to be bled dry, not first for positive reasons

    23. Here’s the key

      > boost both to the peso and *the government’s standing in the midterm elections*

Can’t have a right wing leader have citizens wanting to get rid of them!
