Remember folks, there is a two tier justice system.
One for rich people where they get a slap on the wrist at most.
And one for us peasants where we get the book thrown at us.
There is no real justice in this country, and our courts and institutions will not save us.

This is absurd. The judge in the case was extraordinarily careful and exacting in following the law.
Haven’t read the decision yet, but it damn well better just be sending it back down for new penalties.
Fool_On_the_Hill_9 on
It’s important to note that the court found the penalty to be „an excessive fine that violates the Eighth Amendment of the United States Constitution.“ It did not find that he did nothing wrong.
It also has nothing to do with his criminal conviction.

The appeals court found that the case itself was carefully crafted and sound but that the penalty was incorrectly determined and excessive. This ruling is in no way exonerating and, in fact, reaffirms the finding of wrongdoing.

How in the fuck is fining someone convicted of fraud in the amount equivalent to their ill-gotten gains, plus interest, an 8th amendment violation of excessive punishment?

Typical white collar bullshit. No punishment EVER for the crime. White collar crime must be pursued like all other crime if you want any sort of deterrence. Slaps on wrist just encourage more corruption.

Trump kept claiming that there were 2 tiers of justice in the US. Here is further evidence of that – old, rich, white Republicans like Trump get to avoid justice for anything they do wrong, while the less fortunate get f’d over.

Our entire country — all it’s civil servants, laws, agencies, you name it — all serve the interests of Trump.
He is far above the law, he has convinced half of the country, including now appellate judges apparently, that there is some great scheme at work „keeping little ol‘ Donnie the American Hero“ down.
This ruling is a farce. Our legal system is a farce.
Why hasn’t he walked down to the DOJ himself, cankles and all, and set all the Epstein evidence boxes on fire by now?
I guess he doesn’t have to do that because those boxes will never see the light anyway.
