Remember folks, there is a two tier justice system.
One for rich people where they get a slap on the wrist at most.
And one for us peasants where we get the book thrown at us.
There is no real justice in this country, and our courts and institutions will not save us.
This is absurd. The judge in the case was extraordinarily careful and exacting in following the law.
Haven’t read the decision yet, but it damn well better just be sending it back down for new penalties.
It’s important to note that the court found the penalty to be „an excessive fine that violates the Eighth Amendment of the United States Constitution.“ It did not find that he did nothing wrong.
It also has nothing to do with his criminal conviction.
I mean what did we expect? He was found guilty on all 34 counts yet was recommended no punishment. Why even bother?

What was the actual ruling? The article is about as low effort as can be.
It’s not unusual for NY appeals court to bring down fines somewhat, but how much?
Everyone should cite these cases to receive the two tiers of justice treatment for their fraud case.
As opposed to the $1 billion Melania wants from Hunter.
The fine has to be more than the ill-gotten gain, or else it’s just a business expense that incentivizes more fraud.
Appeals court still agreed with the verdict being correct. It was just the damages that were tossed.
