Reps. Ocasio-Cortez and Neguse have previously partnered on efforts to enact legislation to prohibit Members of Congress from trading stocks.

Agreed.  Most of Congress at this point are grifters who used being a politician as part of their grift, not civil servants who became grifters after serving in Congress.  This will make it so that only people dedicated to civil service are attracted to the job.

US needs this and overturning Citizens United for common folk to stand a chance. No way anything close to this passes under the current market manipulating madman

Your average shmuck would get sent down for insider trading if they pulled half the scams that politicians do.

It’s almost like governments need a set of checks and balances to stop them running their country (and in America’s case the world) into the ground.

A step in the right direction, but not enough. All lobbying should be illegal. It’s just institutionalized corruption.

    6. Lobbying is being replaced by **Trump’s personal cryptocoin**. If you want something from Trump, just buy some of his own, personal meme coins. It’s an opaque pipeline to Trump’s pocket and his pen on whatever policy you want him to sign.

It’s been working flawlessly for Putin.

    7. I would assume it would be considered a violation of free speech by the courts. Lobbying is sort of difficult to define. What’s the difference between expressing a political opinion and doing so on behalf of a corporation? Also, said corporation could just muddy the waters by lobbying the ex politician with gifts with an assumption they would lobby a current politician without explicitly stating it. I feel like receiving gifts, selling books, or trading stocks should be heavily regulated for politicians and ex politicians. I think that’s technically fully constitutional.

While I agree in principle, it’s difficult to see how this is constitutional.
