      >The judge’s order to return control of the troops to California Governor Gavin Newsom will not go into effect immediately and the administration has filed an appeal.

      >The state sued President Donald Trump on Monday over his order to deploy the troops without Gov Newsom’s consent.

      >Trump said he was sending the troops – who are typically under the governor’s authority – to stop LA from „burning down“ in protests against his immigration crackdown. Local authorities have argued they have the situation in hand and do not need troops.

      >Judge Charles Breyer said the question presented by California’s request was whether Trump followed the law set by Congress on the deployment of a state’s National Guard.

      >“He did not,“ the judge wrote in his decision. „His actions were illegal… He must therefore return control of the California National Guard to the Governor of the State of California forthwith.“

      >Gov Newsom posted on social media after the order was filed that „the court just confirmed what we all know — the military belongs on the battlefield, not on our city streets“.

      They’re already deployed though, so how is this blocking? And they have time to appeal up until tomorrow at 3 pm. So, I really doubt anything is changing.

      IAAL. The ruling is thorough and very legally sound, but the judge delayed it until noon tomorrow, which basically guarantees an appeal and interim stay during the appeals. Unfortunately most lawyers are worried that eventually the Supreme Court will again rewrite the law to protect Trump.

      What’s going to be truly hilarious if the police can’t handle the protests (they can’t) and some of these governors have to request the National Guard to help.

      Let me guess, it’ll get appealed, then he’ll be allowed to deploy them, then the kangaroo SC will enforce the decision and he’ll deploy them anyway.

      On that cheerful topic and in the light of the current political situation: any fellow parents here want to comment how children behave when you TELL them not to do something, but there is no real way to enforce it???

      With the appeal allowing them until the 17th, trump will call them back from service on the 16th and then his lawyers will argue that it is a moot point because the national guard is no longer deployed.

      This has unfortunately already been appealed and the judge has put a stay on the original order…what the fuck is happening in our country. I hate being alive in this timeline

      If anything the National Guard should be there protecting people from ICE and the LAPD.

      It got appealed (expected) and it’ll end up going all the way to SCOTUS. Total waste of government funds. Remember, your tax dollars pay for all these lawsuits. And Trump loves keeping lawyers employed.
