Californian resistance to Trump’s advance
brashendeavors on
>A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration’s deployment of California’s National Guard to Los Angeles and called the move illegal.
>The judge’s order to return control of the troops to California Governor Gavin Newsom will not go into effect immediately and the administration has filed an appeal.
>The state sued President Donald Trump on Monday over his order to deploy the troops without Gov Newsom’s consent.
>Trump said he was sending the troops – who are typically under the governor’s authority – to stop LA from „burning down“ in protests against his immigration crackdown. Local authorities have argued they have the situation in hand and do not need troops.
>Judge Charles Breyer said the question presented by California’s request was whether Trump followed the law set by Congress on the deployment of a state’s National Guard.
>“He did not,“ the judge wrote in his decision. „His actions were illegal… He must therefore return control of the California National Guard to the Governor of the State of California forthwith.“
>Gov Newsom posted on social media after the order was filed that „the court just confirmed what we all know — the military belongs on the battlefield, not on our city streets“.

They’re already deployed though, so how is this blocking? And they have time to appeal up until tomorrow at 3 pm. So, I really doubt anything is changing.

IAAL. The ruling is thorough and very legally sound, but the judge delayed it until noon tomorrow, which basically guarantees an appeal and interim stay during the appeals. Unfortunately most lawyers are worried that eventually the Supreme Court will again rewrite the law to protect Trump.

He’ll go whine and complain and bitch and moan to the Supreme Court

…and the walls of the White House ran red with ketchup that day. There was gnashing of teeth and pooping of diapers, but the lamentations of the Mad King could not be heard over the cheering of the badass citizens of Los Angeles.

What’s going to be truly hilarious if the police can’t handle the protests (they can’t) and some of these governors have to request the National Guard to help.

That judge will probably receive death threats from the domestic terror organization known as MAGA.

Let me guess, it’ll get appealed, then he’ll be allowed to deploy them, then the kangaroo SC will enforce the decision and he’ll deploy them anyway.

The Guard walked off the line at the federal building about 20 minutes ago.

There’s no way Trump will pay them now.

The events in the Middle East are spiraling way out of control and pose a real threat to us and the Trump administration, hell the entire Republican Party, are wasting their time distracting themselves with *this* bullshit.

Another reason to impeach trump.

‚Blocked‘ is a rather bold word here.
More like: judges TOLD him that he can‘t.
On that cheerful topic and in the light of the current political situation: any fellow parents here want to comment how children behave when you TELL them not to do something, but there is no real way to enforce it???

Either way he’s glad it took the attention away from being in the Epstein files.

The fact the guard even showed up without Newsom’s approval is a major problem.

This was unfortunately contested and they will now be allowed to stay for a few more days while they go through the appeal process. source : AP as of 10 min ago

Can’t wait to see how the SC pretzels itself into an alien shape to make this totally cool. Gotta make those tip$.
Get-in-Good-Trouble on
With the appeal allowing them until the 17th, trump will call them back from service on the 16th and then his lawyers will argue that it is a moot point because the national guard is no longer deployed.

Felon breaks the law again. What a surprise.

This has unfortunately already been appealed and the judge has put a stay on the original order…what the fuck is happening in our country. I hate being alive in this timeline

If anything the National Guard should be there protecting people from ICE and the LAPD.

Well, at least California now has a military force of some kind available to defend us against….our own military?
Rambos_Magnum_Dong on
It got appealed (expected) and it’ll end up going all the way to SCOTUS. Total waste of government funds. Remember, your tax dollars pay for all these lawsuits. And Trump loves keeping lawyers employed.
