The drums of war are starting to beat. Looks like we’re all being softened up for what’s coming.

    2. It makes you think, what intelligence do they have from the Russians? It’s got to be some wild shit.

    3. They aren’t going to invade or launch missiles at us.

Our friends maybe, but not us.

The Royal navy could turn Russia to rubble and they know it.

    4. WolverineLife9178 on

I don’t know if this is true or not but I am sure NATO would defeat Russia quite easily if they did decide to attack the UK 🤷‍♂️

What, exactly, am I supposed to do? Protect and Survive was bullshit back in the ‘80s and continues to be bullshit.

I’m doing my bit. I’ve built a $22bn anti missile system in my back garden

Are they serious? They are saying I should buy a bunch of stuff for a 72 hour survival kit? I can barely afford rent in this shithole.

Russia can’t even beat Ukraine, no need to worry. If Putin is crazy enough to launch nukes then his own men will probably just assassinate him.

    9. I feel like we get into a bit of a frenzy with this often at the moment and it just becomes a headline that I discard

I think there’s some normal military exercises coming up for Russia in September – only know of this because Ukraine was really trying to sell it as them planning something again- which is probably part of the reason we are kicking up a frenzy again

Also not lost on me that this comes shortly after the Ukrainian drone mission in Russia

All in all, it’s just another day

For anyone looking for some background on this and some really interesting insight in Putin and how we ended up here, Turning point: the bomb and the cold war is a really good watch. Joins a lot of dots.

You know what… I don’t think this war stuff is very good.

Have we tried all being friends?

What a load of fearmongering bullshit. Both we and Russia are nuclear armed countries and while we can help Ukraine strike Russia, Russia cannot do the same to the UK.

Of course a general will say something that benefits the army

Someone forgot to tell the government drone attacks are the new fashion.

    16. People will eat this up. They love fear, live your day like a normal day guys

    17. I’ll be ok. Where I live, they will have the fins off it before it lands.

    18. And how do we prepare for it exactly? Is it time to start building air raid shelters in our back gardens again?

    19. GreyFoxNinjaFan on

My plans for a bunker were rejected by the parish town council planning committee.

    20. PossibleSmoke8683 on

Back in the cold war they released pamphlets for people to prepare for nuclear attack. Nuclear attack never happened.

This is the usual scaremongering to justify the inevitable tax increase to pay for more defence spending .

    21. Great, now ive got to make a convincing military facilityin my back yard to deter russian missiles.

    22. They need a war to distract from the other problems, and seem determined to get it. Also a lot of resources there for the taking if Putin can be brought down and a puppet installed. Personally I struggle to see a country with a lower GDP than Italy, which is unable to beat a country with a third of its population, getting very far taking on NATO. Which I believe Russia has zero interest in doing.

I’ve installed a landing strip on my roof and built a modern spitfire to intercept them personally.

      >*“In one way we think a great deal too much of the atomic bomb. ‘How are we to live in an atomic age?’ I am tempted to reply: ‘Why, as you would have lived in the sixteenth century when the plague visited London almost every year, or as you would have lived in a Viking age when raiders from Scandinavia might land and cut your throat any night; or indeed, as you are already living in an age of cancer, an age of syphilis, an age of paralysis, an age of air raids, an age of railway accidents, an age of motor accidents.’*

      >*In other words, do not let us begin by exaggerating the novelty of our situation. Believe me, dear sir or madam, you and all whom you love were already sentenced to death before the atomic bomb was invented: and quite a high percentage of us were going to die in unpleasant ways. We had, indeed, one very great advantage over our ancestors—anesthetics; but we have that still. It is perfectly ridiculous to go about whimpering and drawing long faces because the scientists have added one more chance of painful and premature death to a world which already bristled with such chances and in which death itself was not a chance at all, but a certainty.*

      >*This is the first point to be made: and the first action to be taken is to pull ourselves together. If we are all going to be destroyed by an atomic bomb, let that bomb when it comes find us doing sensible and human things—praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts—not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about bombs. They may break our bodies (a microbe can do that) but they need not dominate our minds.”*

    25. How about we stop arming other countries and stirring up shit so that a few weapons manufacturers and their powerful friends can get richer? Oh yeah, I remember, they runs things.

    26. chronicnerv on

For anyone wondering why the UK might be a target, it’s not exactly out of nowhere. Our top commanders and forces have effectively been engaged in a proxy war with Russia since 2014. As long as Western-supplied weapons keep landing on Russian positions, the chances of the UK being struck go up. So yes, I do take the threat seriously.

That said, if anything like that were to happen, it’s unlikely the first strikes would be random. Strategic logic says they’d hit military sites and weapons manufacturing hubs first places that actually affect a country’s ability to retaliate or defend.

What bothers me more is that the current messaging feels more like psychological conditioning than anything practical. The real fragility is in our supply chains. If they go down, we’re in far more immediate trouble than if a missile hits a military base. What people actually need is guidance on how to survive as a community without relying on global logistics proper planning, local resilience, real preparedness. Instead, we’re getting vague „awareness training“ that doesn’t address any of the real-world consequences of being struck like missiles.

    27. Fit_Foundation888 on

The thing is if your economic plan is military Keynesianism, you have to find ways to use all the weapons you stockpile, which means you have to manufacture military conflicts. This is how the US works – it’s no coincidence that they are regularly involved in wars. Out of the 244 years the US has been in existence it has been involved in wars for 222 of them.

    28. The stretched twig of peace is at melting point. People here are literally bursting with war.

    29. For years all I’ve read is how Russia continually fail against Ukraine, how Russia is putting prisoners and North Koreans on the front line because they have reduced man-power, how they’re using obsolete technology and equipment because they aren’t as advanced as they let the world believe, how their military logistics are in disarray due to corruption at every level.

You can’t publish all of those „feel good“ stories and THEN change direction and tell me they will become a tangible threat any day now.

I’m meant to believe that Russia has been holding back and they’re suddenly going to become some superior fighting force?

At this stage I’d be surprised if they even had nukes that worked.

More and more of this shite every day. Public services, social services and benefits all being slashed, further attempts being made to target poor school children for recruitment. Always more money for weapons of death……

Give me a convincing logical reason why Russia would go out of the way to attack UK instead of any other anti-Russian European country that is closer. UK has modern weapons and is capable of fighting back, not to mention triggering the entire EU and NATO to fight back. This would only lead to Russia falling.

Why would they not want to attack poland instead? Considering it is close and next to ukraine.

Using russia as a way to get or scare people to buy stuff and “prepare” is pathetic.
