The Constitution (Article I, Section 9) requires Congressional consent for any U.S. government official, including the President, to accept a personal gift from a foreign head of state. However, Congress has generally allowed the acceptance of gifts of „minimal value“ from foreign governments as a sign of courtesy. Most Presidents do no except gifts from foreign governments. Gifts can be purchased by the President and/or first lady or others. If not, they become the property of the United States……..

When Republicans refuse to allow for an investigation Democrats need to start holding press conferences outside of Congress where they yell in short spurts and throw fucking shitfits where they say Republicans support crime just like they did a felon president and the shit kicking out of law enforcement on the same steps they reside on. Sure, we can point to things like their reaction to the Hunter Biden/Burisma scandal, and how comically it pales in comparison to open, blatant, corruption like accepting a half billion dollar bribe from a foreign government. But hey, I was informed by my father in law yesterday that I really need to thank Trump for singlehandedly bringing a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. So no biggie, I guess.

Imagine if you got to build a plane for another country’s president. You could load that thing so full of bugs and monitoring systems that you could map out all the conversations that took place on the airliner. Seems like a pretty big red flag to me.
Jesus, what is there to probe? The Foreign Emoluments clause is in Article 1 of the constitution, and it’s very plain language!
Maybe it will have copies of the Quran, but then Trump doesn’t read.
In addition to the ethics problem this also sounds like a national security nigtmare.
Insane that he can just do this without immediate consequence. Is the US so broken that it can’t address even the most glaring national security issue?
