    1. Trump is part of the Russia-Iran-Qatar-Hamas axis. He abandons the free world and western democracy all for a private jet.

Democrats will find out, yes he took the plane. Then give a speech.

    3. It wasn’t a gift! It was a simple trade in exchange for a development project. Totally above board, nothing to see here.

    4. The Constitution (Article I, Section 9) requires Congressional consent for any U.S. government official, including the President, to accept a personal gift from a foreign head of state. However, Congress has generally allowed the acceptance of gifts of „minimal value“ from foreign governments as a sign of courtesy. Most Presidents do no except gifts from foreign governments. Gifts can be purchased by the President and/or first lady or others. If not, they become the property of the United States……..

The 747 isn’t a gift. $400 million is way over the top.

The ethics discussion should have started when it was plain that every word out of Krasnovs mouth vibrate across putin’s balls on the way out his mouth.

    6. When Republicans refuse to allow for an investigation Democrats need to start holding press conferences outside of Congress where they yell in short spurts and throw fucking shitfits where they say Republicans support crime just like they did a felon president and the shit kicking out of law enforcement on the same steps they reside on. Force the media to talk about this the way Republicans have over 10 trans athletes out of millions

I know people who work pretty low level government jobs and they cannot accept anything more than like $20 or $50 for the whole year or they could be flagamed into resigning if they aren’t fired

Can we tack on the $5.5B golf course they suddenly agreed to after announcing the gift of a jet.

The Democrats „seek an immediate ethics probe“  . . . or what?

While they’re at it they might as well ask for Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

B-but Karoline Leavitt said that Trump would never even think of enriching himself as president, he joined a life of public service!

      🙄

    10. It seems as if they’re going to fly it under as a gift to his presidential library because that’s a great area. Another thing that needs to be shut down.

Republicans have voted twice this year to stop time.

They are not bound by anything resembling „law“

    12. New rule from Mike Johnson any moment now: the House may not investigate ethics nor gifts related to the executive branch.

The right is beyond parody at this point.

Sure, we can point to things like their reaction to the Hunter Biden/Burisma scandal, and how comically it pales in comparison to open, blatant, corruption like accepting a half billion dollar bribe from a foreign government. But hey, I was informed by my father in law yesterday that I really need to thank Trump for singlehandedly bringing a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. So no biggie, I guess.

    14. It’s very black and white. Violation of the emoluments clause of the constitution. Full stop.

“No person holding any office of profit or trust under the U.S. shall, without Congress’s consent, accept any gift, payment, office, or title from a foreign state.”

    15. Imagine if you got to build a plane for another country’s president. You could load that thing so full of bugs and monitoring systems that you could map out all the conversations that took place on the airliner. Seems like a pretty big red flag to me.

    16. Jesus, what is there to probe? The Foreign Emoluments clause is in Article 1 of the constitution, and it’s very plain language!

In addition to the ethics problem this also sounds like a national security nigtmare.

    18. SuperLuigiUnited on

Insane that he can just do this without immediate consequence. Is the US so broken that it can’t address even the most glaring national security issue?
