David Hogg, vice chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), told Newsweek he plans to keep fighting for the Democratic Party, even if he’s ousted from his position.
„Obviously I would prefer that I not be removed; however, in the case that I am, I’m still going to fight to build the strongest Democratic Party possible,“ he said in a Thursday interview.
Hogg, 25, who was elected to one of five DNC vice chair positions in February, has sparked backlash in recent weeks, after announcing that his political action committee (PAC), Leaders We Deserve, would invest some $20 million to support primary challengers against incumbent Democrats in safely blue districts.

I don’t see the issue here. Either the Democrats that get primaried validate their existence and show why they’ve been able to sit on their perch for so long, or they can’t stand up to scrutiny and the Dems clean out the dust in their party.

Primaries are fine. I’d have more of an opinion if I knew who he was going to donate to. Whether or not this is a good idea will largely depend on who he ends up supporting.
Democrats need the younger crowd to lead.. just not this kid. Cannot stand him.
There needs to be a party for the left in the country. Either the Dems can step up and be what they insist they are or maybe Hogg, AOC, or whomever should do something new. Forever only choosing between far right and center is killing my mental health.
I’ve been watching that Vietnam miniseries on Netflix and seeing the absolute destruction of the American psyche and belief in government being played out right now in modern day society is absolutely insane. Folks get into power and they really just don’t give a shit. You should be holding people in your political party to account if you are in a position of leadership because that’s the whole point of being in there. You LEAD OTHERS TO BETTER AND NEW OPPORTUNITIES!? Honestly just someone start a new political party im so over it
My only concern with Hogg is that he pushes for candidates that are incredibly anti gun. Democrats and independents like guns too and being anti gun isn’t a great way to win an election in the US.
Centrists have the same corporate interests as the fascist right. They will often sabotage the left leaning side of the party to cater to corporate interests.
This is sickening. The Democratic establishment is fighting harder against Hogg than Trump and the Republicans. We, the people, need to rise and primary the shit out of them just like AOC did.

Maybe we need a new party altogether. The democrat/republican name brand has too much baggage associated with it. America somehow needs to figure out how to get the 90 million people who didn’t vote, to want to vote.
The problem for me is that I totally agree with getting rid of the Old Guard, but the young progressive types are often really hard to swallow. Hogg is a perfect example of this. I understand his *personal* feelings about guns, but no, my Jewish self and immigrant wife are not budging a *centimeter* on the Second Amendment, especially right now.
Whether it’s guns, Palestine or whatever else, all these guys have some pet issue that they dig their heels on that are just really grating, at best. What I want to see is someone who is aggressively populist on the economics and political reform front but takes middle-of-the-road positions on these hot-button issues where many „normie“ Americans just can’t follow the progressive line.
Bernie Sanders was always decent on that front, but then, case-in-point, he always calls himself a „socialist“ and while that doesn’t *necessarily* bother me it’s just a foolish self-own for the rest of the electorate. He’s also a thousand years old, but I digress.
Hogg is a professional PAC money collector.
He needs to be ousted. Gun control is a losing issue. Sure „60 percent“ of Americans support common sense gun control. But the people who say that don’t use it as their guiding reason to vote, where as pro 2nd amendment individuals absolutely use it as their guiding reason to vote. It’d be so easy for a democrat to win on the platform of being both pro choice and pro 2nd amendment. It’s unreal how that hasnt happened yet. And no Kamala Harris was not pro 2nd amendment. Not in the way Americans expect of a politician who claims to be. Especially after she advocated for gun control previously.

He’s a professional politician. He’s not helping anyone and he’s one of the reasons Democrats lost.
For those that disagree, we have a real problem in this party. Any time Democrats have any sort of real power, we seem to always have some Senator who will stop the agenda.
Under Biden, it was Sinema and Manchin (who I both blame for the reason we lost in 2024). Under Obama, it was Joe Lieberman who took away a lot of teeth from the ACA.
Now, I can’t tell if this is purposeful by the party. But Republicans can get their agenda through no problem.
We need to stop building monuments to compromise. And those that voted for cloture on the Continuing Resolution (which coincidentally none of their seats are up until 2028) they should feel a little pressure from their base.
Why do we have to be so far leaning?? David has a vision of working towards a center line. We’re never going to make everyone happy, but if we can give and take with each bill, we ultimately all win. Compromise is what keeps any relationship healthy, why have we forgotten this in politics??
I want someone to let James Carville know he died a few years ago. Doesn’t seem he’s got that memo.
