For real.. If you need outside council to litigate against the government….

It’s a much better look to be a law firm that fights, that’s for sure. What company would want counsel from spineless bootlickers?
thefinalhex on
Makes sense to me as a pure business decision. Personally I’d want to hire lawyers that didn’t back down from an upcoming legal battle.

A very clear warning to both the public and politicians: industrialists will do whatever they think is best for them.
Act accordingly, vote accordingly, and buy accordingly.

This just in! Trump is getting rid of Microsoft computers and installing Mac’s in the White House.

Why the fuck would anyone hire a LAW FIRM that immediately caves to blatantly unconstitutional demands?
Like, even if you’re a Trumper. That’s who you want representing you? lol

I wouldn’t want counsel that is not willing to defend themselves.

Trump is even making me a fan of Microsoft.
Holy shit this guy is evil.

Why should anyone think a law firm would fight for their clients if they won’t even fight for themselves?
mowotlarx on
The real question is why any major organization would want a law firm that shows they will not fight the current administration. Guess who is often bringing these orgs to court for major violations? The fed.

Who would have thought that Microsoft would demonstrate integrity. A very positive surprise 😮

This has nothing to do with politics, but with why would you want to retain lawyers who couldn’t even defend themselves.

A law firm that appeases Trump now will probably appease him in he future if, say, the government demands privileged information.

How can anyone trust the firms that capitulated? Do you have to check with Chump first before serving my interests? How are they even running a client list? Is it possible they’re already so busy with cops that need representation? All these brown shirts are gonna need representation too. I truly cannot believe we are here. This is heinous and with the Yarvinism embedded in the MAGAt party I really fear we are all doomed save some massive movement. Schedule F gets more and more complete everyday. We may be doomed already.

If a firm won’t aggressively defend their own interests, how can clients believe they’ll aggressively defend theirs?
FeebysPaperBoat on
Interesting but I’m not ready to believe it means Microsoft isn’t in his pocket. I don’t know enough to say either direction but at this point I’m having trouble trusting anyone thriving on capitalism.

Good.
Honestly, from a client standpoint… If a firm can’t bother to fight for themselves, how well would you expect them to fight for you?

I wouldn’t trust any law firm or attorney that aligns with Trump.

I wouldn’t read too much into this: (1) companies do this all the time, especially when they anticipate a case won’t be settling and they want to retain trial attorneys; and (2) Jenner Block has real litigation chops beyond their fight against the EO. What would signal something is transactional business moving from coward firms to firms either not under EO or actively fighting their EOs.
