      >Under any other circumstances, “mistakenly” deporting Kilmar Abrego Garcia (a U.S. legal resident) to a prison in another country without trial would be grounds for impeachment, so why not now? 

      >Under any other circumstances, the president not faithfully executing the laws of the United States (such as flouting an order by the Supreme Court to return Mr. Garcia) would be grounds for impeachment, so why not now?

      >Because this Republican Congress is full of cowards.

      Intransigence is the *entire appeal* of being in Congress since at least the era of the Tea Party, as they can just sit on their hands and kick everything up to the courts to settle.

      Frankly, I’m surprised there aren’t more CEOs/business leaders there given the pathology to this end?

      Rand Paul was upset about drone usage by the government (Democrats). Where is he at with the calls for due process, or does he only believe in certain parts of the constitution?

      In early 2021 the US Senate held the second impeachment trial of trump for his attempted coup on Jan. 6th.

      Many of his co-conspirators in the coup were serving as GOP Senators. They were allowed to serve as jurors in his trial.

      Unsurprisingly, they voted to acquit him. If they had voted to convict him then trump would have been ineligible to run for president in 2024.

      Most of those GOP Senators are still in the US Senate, having been re-elected by voters.

      If Congress won’t act when the Constitution is clearly defied, then what exactly are they there for?

      We’re not having obstructive protests while American children are being deported and judges are being arrested.

      This is a failure of pretty much all left leaning leadership.

      This isn’t a failure of Republicans, those bastards are getting what they want.

      The donor class does not back people for Congress because they are stand up, principled people. They back them because they are compliant and they obey orders. They will not stand up to Trump unless the donors order them too. Even then, they are too afraid of a primary challenger backed by Musk.

      The only ones who will fight back are the ones who don’t take corporate money.
