The public prefers to be taxed so the millionaires and billionaires can rest easy. Everybody knows that.
When he says „the public“ he’s not talking about us. He’s talking about the rich. You know, the people who matter.
He’s referring to „his public“, you know, the ones who bought him.
“The public” here means his donors and certainly not the general public.
By „the public“ he means means the rich. The rest of us are just livestock.
