Saying stuff like that just encourages them. When Sarah Palin was talking about „death panels“ during her campaign she was speaking the truth about what would happen when the GOP took over the government.
The debate on this would be comical if it wasn’t tragic. They refuse to protect Medicaid with language in the bill and it boils down to “we’ve told you we aren’t cutting it, just the fraud and abuse stupid!”
Many will lose healthcare and many will die as a result.

On one hand it’s horrible that people will suffer financially and physically, and potentially die, because of these cuts, however on the other hand at some point there has to be consequences when people continuously vote against their own best interests.
Imagine purposefully sabotaging your economy while claiming its going to bring in trillions of dollars and when in negotiations on the tariffs, you don’t even know what you want, then working to gut the federal government, who’s work force is at the same level it was in the 1950’s, THEN working to push the elderly off medicaid. It’s almost like they want us to die!

Rural healthcare is about to be WILD. Considering over 60% of all rural healthcare is done through Medicaid, this is going to hurt large swaths of this country. Also consider how many medical facilities, including major rural hospitals, will have to shut down because of lack of funding. Then there’s the job losses associated with such pull outs. So Americans will be less healthy, more poor, and more unemployed than before. Have we “Made America Great Again” yet?

Many people will tell you Republicans don’t care about cutting medical coverage for people, but that just isn’t true. They LOVE it — they absolutely LOVE inflicting misery. It makes them feel strong.
Sure am glad to have a union job these days. I go to the dentist and get some work done, I pay nothing. Go to the doctor, no copay and my card covers whatever prescription or shot he gives me. Need a new pair of glasses? Free.

All these people with elderly family members in nursing homes or with young siblings who are paralyzed for life by an accident who are in long term care will now be forced to take them home; meaning your life is now dedicated to providing 24-7 care.
My hospital will close if either Medicare or Medicaid have further cuts. We’re barely hanging on, and we’re laying people off.
The fact that something so monstrous is seen as „helping Trump“ tells you everything you need to know.
I’ve been thinking for a while now that maybe all this crap that MAGA is doing will finally get the US to commit to a better future once they are gone for good. We always get teased a better future with a democratic administration but then go backwards once we swing the pendulum back to the republicans. Maybe this will cause 40 years of progress similar to when FDR was elected. That’s my silver lining I like to think about when things get dark.

There will be mid terms and Democrats are going to pickup 40+ seats in the House. The Senate map is great for Republicans in 26 but not so much in 28. Trump is done as soon as he signs a tax bill. Trump is 79 years old and a lot of elected republicans DO NOT LIKE HIM OR WHAT HE’S DOING. Let’s see if there are more republicans with spines after the tax bill.
My understanding is they have to cut Medicaid to make the numbers work so they can pass the tax bill under reconciliation. Once it’s passed, They’ll come up with emergency legislation to fund Medicaid through the midterms. Now they are daring democrats to vote against Medicare.
